Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest 2024 LIVE RESULT: Patrick Bertoletti crowned the winner after Joey Chestnut’s exile

PATRICK Bertoletti has been crowned as the winner of the 2024 Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest after gobbling 58 buns and dogs.

It comes after Joey Chestnut smashed the record last year on his way to an incredible 16th victory by eating 76 hot dogs in 10 minutes.

However, in a ruling that shocked and outraged fans, the poster boy of the sport was exiled from taking part this year because of his new sponsorship with plant-based Impossible Foods.

Even though Joey didn't participate in the official contest, he still guzzled 57 dogs in five and a half minutes during a charity event at Ft. Bliss later in the day.

For the women's contest, Miki Sudo took home the gold and scored a new world record by eating 51 hot dogs and buns, passing her previous high score of 48.5 hot dogs in 10 minutes.

  • Tips on talking to a 'female?'

A audience member asked Joey if he had any tips for "talking to a female."

He responded, "let them know how good of an eater you are."

Joey said that he met his fiance when she initially had a boyfriend. Her boyfriend wanted to meet Joey and left her to take a photo with him.

A year later the two reunited and she told him she had broken up with her former boyfriend.

  • Joey opens up

Joey told the audience that he practices a rigorous diet schedule to prepare for the competition.

He goes through periods where he eats clean and drops weight and periods where he trains to eat hot dogs.

When asked what sport he would want to compete in other than competitive eating, Joey said basketball.

He also added that chicken wings were another favorite food of his.

  • 'I'm so happy to be here'

Joey said that he loved the people at Ft. Bliss and added, "I'm so happy to be here."

The hot dog-eating champion will now take questions from the crowd.

  • That's time!

Joey finished 57 hot dogs in five and a half minutes, while the soldiers could only eat a combined total of 49 dogs.
