A new study by Murat ali Çinar and his team at Hasan Kalyoncu University, used #Lumen to gain insights into patients' metabolic states and how they can impact patient recovery. The #study revealed that personalized exercise, guided by real-time metabolic data, can significantly improve recovery for burn patients. By tailoring exercise programs to each individual's current metabolic state, researchers optimized physiological benefits, leading to faster and more effective recovery. The research involved 25 early-stage burn patients and compared three exercise approaches: 1️⃣ Standard Treatment: Traditional physiotherapy exercises. 2️⃣ Standard Treatment + Aerobic Exercise: Additional aerobic activities, such as cycling. 3️⃣ Standard Treatment + Combined Exercise: A personalized regimen incorporating both aerobic and resistance exercises, customized according to each patient's metabolic status. The results: Patients who followed a personalized exercise plan, combining aerobic and resistance training based on their metabolic needs and monitored through Lumen’s pre-workout breath result, showed the most significant improvements in functional capacity. This group experienced a faster and more effective recovery compared to those receiving standard treatment alone. This #research underscores the need to move beyond one-size-fits-all approaches in rehabilitation. It’s clearer than ever that #personalized metabolic health strategies are crucial, impacting not only recovery but also overall #wellness.

Women make up nearly half of the population, yet research on the female reproductive system and its impact on #metabolism is extremely limited. For the first time in history, we are proud to announce that Lumen's research team has conducted a groundbreaking study with almost 4,000 female participants, published in Digital Biomarkers (Karger Publishers). This study explores changes in CO2 levels during the menstrual cycle and #menopause, indicating that Lumen can help track menstrual and menopausal metabolic changes. The insights from this #research will enable us to provide personalized, accurate recommendations based on the specific menstrual phase or menopausal state following each Lumen measurement. We are incredibly proud of our research team and thrilled to present #data that has the potential to improve the lives of many women struggling with hormonal shifts. 💡 Did you know? Breakfast before interval training significantly reduces blood sugar levels and appetite. A study conducted at the University of Toronto by Jenna Gillen and Alexa Govette and published in Canadian Science Publishing, examined the metabolic effects of meal timing around exercise. A group of 12 women aged 21-25 with a 20-24 kg/m² BMI performed bodyweight interval exercise (BWE) in 10x1-minute intervals and 1-minute recovery training sessions before and after a standard breakfast. The study collected data on heart rate, blood sugar concentrations, and appetite sensations and measured the post-exercise metabolic state using a Lumen device. It was found that performing BWE training after a standard meal (FED) significantly reduces post-meal blood sugar levels and appetite. The findings demonstrated that BWE performed in a fed state, compared to a fasted state, lowers postprandial glycemia and appetite perception. These findings support the importance of meal timing around workouts and its health benefits and demonstrate the practicality of using Lumen for tracking metabolic states in non-laboratory settings. Lumen is utilized in dozens of studies worldwide to investigate metabolism in everyday environments, allowing continuous monitoring of metabolic health in daily life. This enables researchers to design #innovative #studies, collect objective metabolic data, and track metabolic progress anytime and anywhere beyond the confines of traditional research labs. #Lumen #metabolism #Research #MetabolicHealth #TorontoUniversity

🔎 New Research From Lumen! We just published a new study in JMIR Publications: "The Association Between Macronutrient Consumption and BMI to Exhaled CO2 in Lumen users: A Real-World Study". Our research team, led by Lumen Co-Founder & Chief Scientist, Dr. Merav Mor, along with Dr. Shlomo Yeshurun, Dr. Tomer Cramer and Daniel Souroujon, MD MPH analyzed post-meal %CO₂ responses in 2,607 participants across varying BMI ranges. Let's unpack their findings: ☑️ By tracking the metabolic shifts after meals, the Lumen team uncovered a strong correlation between carbohydrate intake and Body Mass Index. ☑️ Study participants with healthier BMIs were able to metabolize carbs more efficiently, indicating better metabolic flexibility. By contrast, those with higher BMIs demonstrated diminished %CO₂ responses, suggesting reduced metabolic flexibility and inefficiency in metabolizing excess carbs. Why this matters: With 88% of Americans being metabolically unhealthy, this research underscores the critical link between BMI, metabolic inflexibility, and overall health. Empowering people to understand their metabolism and form lifestyle habits that improve metabolic flexibility has never been more important than it is right now. Head to our blog to read more about the study⬇️ #MetabolicHealth #Study #Healthresearch #metabolicflexibility
