Jason Mackey from Athenian Capital shares why building something you truly care about is key to long-term success. - Be Authentic - Investors are drawn to the real you. Authenticity builds trust and rapport, which are essential when convincing others to back your vision. Show them who you really are. - Be Patient - Startup success doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time, effort, and a lot of persistence. Stick with it, even when the road gets tough. Patience is crucial. - Be Knowledgeable - Know your stuff inside out. Be the expert in your field so you can confidently discuss your product, company, and industry. Knowledge is power, especially when pitching to investors. - Embrace Diversity - Listen to diverse perspectives. Different voices and opinions will help vet your product and ideas, leading to a stronger, more successful company. - Build Something You Care About - Passion is contagious; when you work on something you genuinely care about, it shows in your dedication and perseverance. ARE YOU READY? BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF! Max Simonovsky's top 5 tips for founders on when to fundraise. 1️) Be Honest with Yourself. Honesty is key. Be truthful with yourself, your team, clients, and investors. Building a foundation of trust and integrity will guide your decisions and strengthen your company. 2️) Don’t Sell if You’re Not Ready. Especially in complex B2B sales, don’t confuse sales with business development or marketing. Make sure your product is ready, your team is prepared, and you fully understand the sales process before diving in. 3️) Don’t Fundraise Before You’re Ready Rushing into fundraising can waste precious time. Understand the market, know what to expect, and get the necessary advice or knowledge before you start. Wait until you’re truly prepared to make the most of your fundraising efforts. 4️) Don’t Compromise on Your Team. Your team can make or break your startup. Find people who can support you and mitigate risks. Pay them well enough to ensure their motivation and capability in driving your success. 5️) Acknowledge Every Success. Celebrate every milestone, no matter how small. These achievements build momentum and bring you closer to your ultimate goals. Stay humble, but recognize the importance of each victory along the way. ------ Visit Meet.Capital and join more than 6,000 founders and investors receiving our weekly 5 startup tips. Don't fear dilution! -- 5 tips from James Altucher , a serial founder who’s made (and lost) fortunes multiple times. 👇 1 - Get traction first. Focus on generating sales and gaining traction before seeking VC money. Whenever possible, prioritize making money over raising it. Investors love to see a startup that’s already proving its value in the market. 2 - Show there's an arbitrage. Investors need to see a unique, timely opportunity for outsized returns. Convince them that investing in your startup now is a chance they can’t afford to miss. 3 - Don’t worry about NDAs. No one’s going to steal your idea, and insisting on an NDA might make you look inexperienced. Skip the NDA and focus on building relationships with VCs. 4️ - Don’t fear dilution. James says to take the money whenever an investor is willing to put in a meaningful amount. The speed and capital you gain usually outweigh the cost of giving up some equity. 5 - Avoid paying for services with equity. Don’t use your precious equity to hire early or pay for services. This leads to lower quality work and the equity given often isn’t justified. ------ Visit Meet.Capital and join more than 6,000 founders and investors receiving our weekly 5 startup tips. 🚀 Fundraising taking longer than expected? Barak Peled , a seasoned entrepreneur and angel investor, shares this crucial advice for getting through this challenging process. 👇👇👇 1️⃣ It’ll take more time than you think. -> In this market, fundraising can stretch on for months, even up to a year. Prepare yourself mentally and financially. If needed, consider keeping your job or raising an initial amount from friends and family to buy yourself more time. 2️⃣ Have your “fundraising package” ready. -> Before you even start, get all your materials in order: a solid pitch deck, a detailed financial model, a commercial strategy, and a small data room with key documents. This preparation is essential to keep the process smooth. 3️⃣ Target the right investors. -> Understand why a particular investor might be interested in your startup *right now*. Build a list of investors who align with your stage, sector, and needs, and focus your efforts on them. 4️⃣ Study your investors. -> Don’t just reach out blindly. Dive deep into each investor's background, motivations, and connections. The more you know, the better you can tailor your approach. 5️⃣ Personalize your outreach. -> Use your research to craft personalized messages. Mention specific investments or companies they’ve been involved with, and explain why your startup is a perfect fit. Even a few well-crafted emails can be far more effective than blasting out generic messages. Raising capital in this environment isn’t easy, but with the right strategy and plenty of patience, you can get there. Stay focused, be persistent, and remember: preparation is key. 💡 Join more than 6,000 founders and investors receiving Meet.Capital's weekly 5 startup tips (and get a free list of 500 VCs, and other bonuses). #Startups #Fundraising #Entrepreneurship #Investment #VentureCapital
