Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is the no. 1 cause of hospitalization in children < 1 year old (15%-22%)¹ At AstraZeneca India, we’ve embarked on a transformative journey to spread awareness and elevate knowledge on RSV across every region and ethnicity in India. We had an opportunity to actively participate at the Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP) and NEOCON, the annual convention of the National Neonatology Forum. The national and regional conferences, that took place in Trivandrum, Mumbai, Delhi & Bhuvneshwar, saw a massive participation of over 2000 doctors, neonatologists, and paediatricians. Our focus on "RSV Prophylaxis in Preterm Infants" sparked insightful discussions and questions that were answered by subject matter experts. This discussion enhanced our understanding of RSV which can help prevent the onset of the disease, thereby safeguarding our little ones. We cannot overlook the burden this disease brings, and timely identification and intervention is the only way to go. Sowing the seeds of sustainability!   In an era where environmental concern is at the forefront of global discourse, let’s take a pause and ask ourselves – are we doing justice to the place where we live in?   At AstraZeneca, we consider sustainability to be a core part of our identity. And we are delighted to share that the R&D Bangalore team has launched its new sustainability initiative ‘Green School Project’ for Government High School, Bagalur, aimed at empowering the next generation by ensuring access to essential healthcare, clean water, renewable energy, and fresh air for school children.   Along with ECO WATCH, we aim to set-up drinking water units; rainwater harvesting systems & groundwater recharge; solar panel units; waste segregation & disposal unit; health-check camps; and medicinal plants/vegetable garden over the next few months – which will leave a positive impact on ~1500 students.   This initiative signifies the need of the hour – building a more sustainable future, where individuals work in harmony with nature, prioritizing the health of people, society, and planet! India has been persistently grappling with a shortage of blood, causing widespread concern. The country requires an annual average of 14.6 million blood units, and consistently faces a shortfall of 1 million units. To do our bit, our Bangalore team organized a blood donation drive in association with Karnataka Red Cross Blood Centre, a unit of Indian Red Cross Society.   1 day | 100+ colleagues | 84 units of blood | Potential to save >200 lives   This marks yet another step in our ongoing journey to enhance healthcare access, advance scientific innovation, and support our communities.
