New Initiative! #BHU has launched a full fledged Student Counseling initiative to assist students in identifying strengths, overcoming obstacles, and setting themselves on the path to success. For the 2024-25 academic session, 15 Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Fellows with backgrounds in psychology have been given a comprehensive training as counselors. They have all completed their formal education in psychology at #BanarasHinduUniversity. The counselors have been deputed in all the faculties. Their primary role will be to act as change agents, fostering positivity & engaging with students through innovative counseling methods and creative approaches. The facility has been developed under the coordination of Prof. Nishat Afroz, Associate Dean of Students. This initiative comes at a time when nationwide implementation of the National Education Policy 2020 is taking place. The award has been conferred to Prof. Sarma for his contributions and impact in the areas of pedagogical teaching, research and innovation, and outreach activities. The iconic Sayaji Rao Gaekwad Central Library of #BanarasHinduUniversity is all set to double its seating capacity following several uplift measures. The library will soon be able to provide more that 2000 seats as compared to 850 seats in the year 2021. A total of 600 seats, equipped with necessary amenities, have been added by optimizing two floors of the portion of library used by HRDC facility. Faculty of Performing Arts, #BanarasHinduUniversity, is celebrating 74 years of glorious legacy as it enters the 75th year. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sudhir Kumar Jain inaugurated the year-long "Kaustubh Jayanti" celebrations to mark this special occasion. Prof. Jain acknowledged the pivotal role the faculty has played in cultivating great exponents of music and art. He highlighted the profound impact the faculty has had on individuals beyond the realm of music as well. He called for greater engagement with leading figures in the arts to further benefit students. Dr. Sandhya Purecha, Chairperson, Sangeet Natak Akademi graced the program as Guest of Honour. Dr. Rahul Mohan, Dr. Ashutosh Pandey, Mr. Shashank Shekhar Singh, and Ms. Triparna Ghosh were presented the awards by Hon'ble President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu on August 20, 2024 at New Delhi. Dr. Rahul Mohan received an individual award in the Basic Geosciences category, while Shashank Shekhar Singh and Triparna Ghosh were honored with team awards in the Mineral Discovery & Exploration and Basic Geosciences categories, respectively.
