On 25th July 2024, we held a held a highly anticipated Business Plan Presentation at our COFP Annual Retreat. The session, expertly conducted and moderated by the esteemed Jayanth Nanjappa, provided a dynamic platform for participants to pitch their innovative business ideas—a concept inspired by the popular "Shark Tank" format. The event was a tremendous success, with participants stepping up to present their visionary concepts in front of an eager audience of 60-70 attendees. Our Participants and Their Ideas: Bhuvanaa Shreeram : Bhuvana shared her wealth of business experience and introduced her innovative Refire concept, which focuses on handling retiree clients. She detailed her plans to build both a business model and a community dedicated to supporting this crucial demographic. Vikram Sapparad : Vikram presented his idea of establishing a practice that integrates couples' counseling and financial planning. He emphasized the significance of addressing the emotional and financial well-being of couples through a holistic approach. Shrey Mehta : Shrey captivated the audience with his forward-thinking approach to leveraging technology for scaling his business. He discussed the transformative potential of tech in enhancing client service and operational efficiency. After the presentations, Jayanth led a lively discussion with the audience, resulting in valuable takeaways and fresh perspectives for everyone involved. - The audience was thoroughly engaged, posing thoughtful questions and providing constructive feedback that enriched the discussion. - The session highlighted the power of collaboration and community in refining business ideas and strategies. - Participants walked away with fresh perspectives and actionable insights, thanks to the collective wisdom of the group. The recent COFP Monthly Meeting was an enriching experience, leaving attendees with valuable insights and fresh perspectives. The sessions were led by two dynamic speakers who delved into critical topics affecting the financial landscape. Ms. Preethi RS, Equity Fund Manager at UTI Mutual Fund, discussed the Corporate NPA Crisis from 2014 to 2019, pointing to a peak NPA of 11.2% in FY 2018, driven by the 2006-2008 Capex Supercycle. Contributing factors included policy paralysis, RBI’s post-2008 monetary policy, and a shallow corporate bond market. The issue of "Multiple Banking" led to over-leverage and necessitated the introduction of the Asset Quality Review (AQR) for better NPA reporting. Mr. Phaneendar BN highlighted emerging cybercrime trends, identifying SMS, websites, email, and social media as common sources. He emphasized the role of victim behavior in cybercrime, often through sharing OTPs and credentials, and the jurisdictional complexities that make these crimes difficult to solve. The concept of "Money Mules" was also discussed, where victims unknowingly facilitate fraud. He urged the use of CEN branches, the 1930 helpline, and the Chakshu Portal for reporting cybercrimes. Overall, the meeting was a great success, equipping participants with new perspectives and a deeper understanding of these critical issues! Key takeaways from the discussion included valuable insights into their organizational structure, hiring strategies, and approaches to business development and marketing. FinAtoZ strongly advocates for outsourcing and partnerships in areas where they lack expertise, ensuring that they remain focused on their core strengths. Their emphasis on actively seeking Google reviews and client referrals as part of relationship building is particularly noteworthy, with a staggering 75% conversion rate from referrals, compared to 12-15% from online leads. Additionally, their belief in making advisors replaceable, focusing instead on building client relationships with the company's systems and processes, reflects a strategic approach to ensuring sustainability and consistent service delivery. This meeting was a valuable experience for COFP, reinforcing the importance of strategic thinking and the power of a well-aligned team. Every insight shared had its own significance, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of how to navigate the complexities of business growth and client relationships.
