When we come across stories of girls defying stereotypes and becoming trailblazers in their communities, it fuels our passion for the work we do. *Sumi Kumari's journey is a perfect example, highlighting the significance of the #PooriPadhaiDeshKiBhalai movement. Sumi Kumari, an 18-year-old from Bihar was expected to help her family out of socioeconomic hardships and conform to early marriage, this challenged her from completing her higher secondary education. However, timely intervention from CRY and their team reignited her determination. Through regular counseling, home visits, and community mobilization, the CRY team helped reshape her family's views on education. With their support, Sumi's family began to understand the importance of her academic aspirations and supported her journey. She not only completed her higher secondary education but is now pursuing a BA degree, riding her bicycle 13 kilometers every day to attend classes. She stands as the first girl from her community to pursue higher education and resist early marriage pressures—a historic achievement. Despite the challenges, Sumi has reached remarkable milestones. Her story demonstrates the transformative power of education, inspiring girls like her to prioritize completing education and sparking a movement toward educational empowerment within her community. *Name changed . . . 🏷️ #CRYIndia #ChildRightsAndYou #ForOurGirls #EducationMatters #educategirls #GirlChildEducation

In many societies, parents often see early marriage as a solution to financial constraints that prevent girls from completing their education. But is this really the answer? The story of 15-year-old *Kavi from a village in Tamil Nadu, challenges this notion. Kavi had just completed her 10th grade, but her village only offered schooling up to that level. To pursue higher secondary education, she would need to travel 10 KM to the nearest school, a journey made difficult by the family's financial situation. To add to it, Kavi's relatives suggested marrying her off early for her safety. But Kavi had her own dreams—she wanted to become an IAS officer. Determined to continue her education, she sought help from CRY. At a life skill session conducted at the CRY centres, the team highlighted the physical and mental effects of child marriage. Seeing a way forward, Kavi asked the team to intervene. They visited her home, explaining the consequences of child marriage and stressing that Kavi's education and future would be at risk if the marriage went ahead. Through persuasive discussions, the team helped Kavi's parents understand their moral responsibility. As a result, her parents agreed to cancel the marriage plans, realizing the value of continuing her education. Now, with the support of CRY, Kavi is back on track to achieve her dreams. Her story underscores the importance of the #PooriPadhaiDeshKiBhalai movement, empowering them to reach their full potential and break free from societal constraints. *Name changed. 📢 Spread the word | 🤝 Volunteer | 💛 Donate Visit www.cry.org/pooripadhai for more details. . . . 🏷️ #CRYIndia #ChildRightsAndYou #ForOurGirls #EducationMatters #educategirls #GirlChildEducation
