About us

Girl Power Talk is passionate about elevating young women to become global leaders who are recognized for their myriad of talents and contributions. We believe that through education, opportunity, and the support of empathetic male allies, girls and women will advance beyond gender roles, aspire to new levels of achievement and reshape our society. Girl Power Talk is more than a company. We are a movement rooted in empowerment, professional ambition, and social impact. For generations, women have been relegated to secondary roles, and the youth are exploited for their energy and inexperience. Through our innovative ecosystem, we are changing the world of work for the better and providing all voices equal weight in a new narrative defining the future.

Recently, I started watching  ‘This is Us’ (2016-2022), an American TV series depicting the story of a family that goes through different phases of their lives. Each of these phases shapes their reality and transforms each character to where they are now. The series made me wonder about the parents and their struggles and efforts to raise their children to the best of their abilities. Everybody tries to give their one hundred percent. However, parts of resentment and regret stay in the hearts of the family members growing up together. Everybody carries their bags of experiences—good or bad—they stay with us all our lifetime. Our choices determine our future. I am approaching my 30s, and these thoughts often raise questions in my mind, like whether I will do justice to my loved ones, or what exactly I can do for them. Which circumstances are actually in our control? After dwelling on it for a while, I gained a perspective that is worth sharing. Our actions are in our hands. If we give our best to each situation that comes our way, we may have fewer regrets and resentments within us. What we don't know, we can learn. If we can learn, we can implement. But the zeal to keep learning from life itself is most important. After all, what we choose to become is in our control, right? Penned by: Olympica Mehta

Ever applied to a job posting online and got rejected in days or even hours? The employer might be using an applicant tracking system (ATS), which is a software application that employers use to streamline their recruitment and hiring processes. Most of the time, you will be asked to submit your resume or manually type the details from it to the application. When this happens, your resume is often scanned and then sorted or ranked relative to the job description or the other applicants for that posting. Job applications can be frustrating sometimes, but fret not! Here are some dos and don’ts in resume writing, especially when you’re trying to pass the ATS standards or even manual hiring processes: ✅ DO edit your resume to fit the job descriptions of the position you’re applying for. ✅ DO use keywords from the job description when editing your resume. ✅ DO list of experiences in reverse chronological order. ✅ DO highlight positive results and accomplishments. ✅ DO quantify results by including percentages or numbers. ❌ DON’T use tables, pictures, or icons. ❌ DON’T make your resume in a two- or three-column format, stick to one column! ❌ DON’T include information that might cause unconscious bias from the recruiter. ❌ DON’T make your resume too fancy and long, try keeping it concise. Keep in mind that no employer or ATS is the same. You might have to tailor-fit your resume to every position that you’re applying for. The dos and don’ts above are general things that you might consider when applying. Did some of the items in the list work for you or not? We’d like to know! 👇🏼👇🏼 Penned by: Anjo A. #resume #jobs #jobseeking #earlycareers #jobapplication #recruitment #career
