This #mango season, I was shocked to see that many mango #ripening chambers, used for both retail sales and pulping, utilized #ethylene in quantities exceeding the limits suggested by the #NHB or #FSSAI. After speaking with these ripening chamber owners, we discovered that they were unaware that their systems lacked ethylene #sensors capable of regulating gas injection to the permissible level in their so-called fully automatic systems. They believed that their systems would not dose more than the desired value simply because they had set ethylene level points. The industry is flooded with these systems and practices, which have a higher chance of leaving ethylene residue in the commodity, posing health risks upon consumption. This year we have made it one of our goals to raise awareness among all ripening chamber owners about this issue. We are also demonstrating our system, which is foolproof when it comes to ripening, to show them a better alternative.
