#ICCnewsletter: The monsoons are upon us in 2024, showing us that time waits for no one. As the rain comes down heavily on some states and avoids others, we can see climate change shaping lives, geographies, and aspirations across India. There is much to be said; but as life’s unexpectedness comes at us, much like the rain, we must make space for a fleeting, and yet essential pause. The rain sometimes gifts us these moments, unasked. A moment to soothe our hearts and minds as they absorb the suffering around us. A moment to listen to perspectives that aren’t heard enough but are critical today, to inner voices that guide us through storms, and to melodies and frequencies in nature that bring clarity to chaos. A moment to sit with feelings language can’t articulate, to let go of things that aren’t ours, to embrace those who choose to see us for who we are. In our latest newsletter, we savour Shivam’s photography, an ode to Bombay’s monsoon magic. We are reminded of James Norbury’s heartwarming illustrated adventure that captures the immeasurable meaning small moments bring. "You’re quiet today," said Tiny Dragon. And Big Panda smiled. "I don’t think I can improve on the sound of the rain. Read our latest newsletter here https://lnkd.in/g3DgQTAa

"The India Climate Collaborative, co-founded by several donors including myself, and incubated by the Tata Trusts, is moving strategically to increase Indian investments in the climate sector, in both mitigation and adaptation. It convenes samaaj, sarkaar and bazaar to deepen research, build capacity and create investable opportunities. Overall, India’s fund flows towards climate action have grown 2.3 times during 2017-23. Best of all, new funders like Mirik Gogri are entering the space with bold new ideas." writes Rohini Nilekani, Chairperson of Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies. "It is up to the wealthy to show the country why wealth creation has been a net positive in India. No society or country will tolerate for too long the continued accumulation of wealth in a few hands, unless that private wealth works and is seen to work for the public good." Rohini Nilekani (Chairperson, RNP), while urging the country’s wealthy to step up, shares how Indian givers are tilting towards a more collaborative model of #philanthropy. #ClimateSolutions: Tribal farmers in Karbi Anglong district, Assam are facing low agricultural productivity, due to monocropping, high chemical inputs, and climate change impacts. To build resilience to climate change, Seven Sisters Development Assistance (SeSTA), a non-profit, has partnered with the women-led Dhansiri Cluster Level Federation (CLF) in Assam since 2018. With support from the Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission, SeSTA is providing technical training – enabling tribal women in collectivised Self-Help Groups under the CLF to promote agri-horticulture practices and set up a nursery. SeSTA is also planning community-based forest restoration in the region, to sequester carbon in the long-term. - Watch the project video here: https://lnkd.in/gVyEaYdm - Learn more about this project on Earth Exponential: https://lnkd.in/gx22z4PH This video was supported by the JSW Foundation and produced by Meta Films.
