About us
The Tech4Dev initiative is a group of software firms , ecosystem partners, and funders, initiated by a tech entrepreneur and philanthropist (Donald Lobo) and supported by his private family foundation - The Chintu Gudiya Foundation. This initiative enables organizations to bring technology to the core of program design and implementation by 1. Providing customized technology solutions to NGOs, at a cost more reasonable than that offered by full-fledged software firms not a part of the initiative. 2. Developing open source solutions that are then made freely available for everyone to access, use, and build on. These solutions can be reused and shared across multiple NGOs, and contribute to improving existing solutions. 3. Creating an ecosystem of software firms and supporting them in developing products targeted specifically for the development sector.

On Tuesday, we hosted a webinar titled "Empowering NGOs with AI-Enabled WhatsApp Chatbots on Glific," and it turned out to be a great session! We were excited to have 92 participants from various organizations come together, including both new and existing NGO partners. A special shoutout to our panelists—Atharva Joshi from Civis, Jacob Kohn from Bandhu Urban Tech, and Kiran Kumar Sen from INREM Foundation—who shared their use cases and gave us live demos of their AI-enabled WhatsApp chatbots. During the session: ▪ Atharva Joshi from Civis showcased how their LLM-enabled chatbot simplifies complex policy documents for public consultations, empowering citizens to ask questions and better understand the policies that impact them. ▪ Jacob Kohn from Bandhu Urban Tech demonstrated how their chatbot connects migrant workers with affordable housing options via WhatsApp, making a real difference in people's lives. ▪ Kiran Kumar Sen from INREM Foundation shared their unique approach of turning citizens into sensors for local water bodies, using chatbots to drive community action for improving water quality, safety, and security. Day 1 at the Data Catalyst Program: Thrilled to be part of this incredible program co-hosted by Dasra Project Tech4Dev, and goalkeep. Today, we delved into the transformative power of data visualization and automated pipelines in #Mumbai, #India, the world's ninth-largest city with a population of 23 million people. Recognizing the potential of technology to revolutionize decision-making, we also acknowledged the importance of human judgment and the need to address historical biases in data collection and interpretation. In the civil society sector, we often collect and hold troves of data points at the household level. The Data Catalyst program has made me reflect on the importance of not just collecting data, but organizing it effectively to inform meaningful decisions. Technology can play a pivotal role in presenting relevant data in a clear and actionable manner, but it's crucial to ensure that the data itself is representative and unbiased. As we discussed building solutions together, I was struck by the richness of ideas and perspectives shared by the participating organizations. It's inspiring to see how technology can be harnessed to paint a vivid picture of our community's challenges. Looking forward to day 2 and the opportunity to collaborate further with Antarang Foundation, Avanti Fellows , Caring With Colour - A Manasi Kirloskar Initiative, Digital Green , Dream A Dream Farmers for Forests (F4F) , Fortify Health, Shujaaz Inc, and Saturday Art Class. #DataCatalyst #DataScience #SocialImpact #Education #Agriculture #TechForGood Donald Lobo Erica Arya Kavneet Kaur Leah Mwai Manije Kelkar Rukhmini Bhatia Tanushree Patel Daneshwar Mishra Priyanka Sanghai Sneha Trivedi Vinod Rajasekaran Dalgo Glific Arjun Khandelwal Abhishek Nair
