On #NationalSpaceDay we reveal data from India’s Chandrayaan-3 mission! 🌑 The 3rd mission of the lunar exploration programme ‘Chandrayaan,’ provided new insights into the geology of the Moon’s South Pole, a region previously unexplored in detail. During its nine-day mission, the Pragyan lunar rover traversed 103 meters, stopping at 23 locations. The rover analysed the Moon’s regolith — the outermost layer of lunar soil revealed that the regolith around the landing site had a uniform elemental composition, primarily composed of ferroan anorthosite rock. Understanding the elemental composition of the lunar surface at this site offers a crucial "ground truth" that can inform future remote- sensing missions and the planning of subsequent lunar landings. Learn more about the discovery in this article by Nature India: https://bit.ly/3SYQhvi #Chandrayaan3 #Moon
