The highest cancer incidence and mortality rates are observed in the north-eastern states of the country, including Assam. The incidence of cancer in Assam is 114 per 1 lakh population, compared to the national average of 97. Until 2020, only 3 out of 34 districts in the state were equipped with radiotherapy units for cancer treatment. Previously, cancer treatment centres were located only at the state headquarters, requiring patients to travel long distances and incur significant out-of-pocket expenses. The delivery of affordable and equitable cancer care had been one of Assam's greatest public health challenges, especially due to its difficult terrain. In response, Tata Trusts, in collaboration with the Assam State Government, established the Assam Cancer Care Foundation to roll out a distributed model of cancer care, which provides best-in-class, affordable cancer care services closer to patients’ homes. With nine hospitals operational across the state, citizens now have easy access to key facilities such as radiation therapy, chemotherapy, CT scans, and MRI, helping the people of Assam access quality cancer care closer to home. With a stamp of Hope, this postcard from Assam comes with a belief that the state and its people can not just fight cancer, but overcome it. Today, we celebrate the birth anniversary of Sir Dorabji Tata, a visionary leader whose contributions shaped India’s future in sports. While his legacy as a pioneering industrialist and philanthropist is widely known, Sir Dorabji was also a passionate sportsman who understood the vital role of sports in nation-building. As a strong advocate for athletics, Sir Dorabji used his personal finances to send the first Indian contingent to the Olympic Games in 1920. He established the Indian Olympic Association in 1927, laying the ground for India’s participation on the global sporting stage. His own enthusiasm for sports—be it cricket, football, hockey, or weightlifting—set a precedent for promoting physical fitness and healthy competition among the youth of the country. He created a sporting legacy that encourages talent from the grassroots and promotes the holistic development of children and communities. On this day, Tata Trusts celebrates Sir Dorabji Tata for his immense contributions to industry and society and for his enduring passion for sports, which continues to inspire countless athletes. As we mark this occasion, we celebrate his remarkable achievements with the #CenturyOfSportingLegacy, a testament to a vision that has driven and inspired generations of sports enthusiasts. #SirDorabjiTata #SirDorabjiTataTrust #LeadersOfIndia #Visionary #ChangeMaker #PhilanthropyImpact #TataHeritage #Legacy #TataLegacy #TrustInTata #BirthAnniversary #SportsLegacy #IndianSports #Sports #SportsTraining #SportsEducation #BrighterFuture #CenturyOfSportingLegacy #TataTrusts

Purpose becomes even more powerful when supported by effective, insightful communication. It is this philosophy that drives us to create campaigns that touch lives and bring sustainable change. Building on the insight that women generally pay close attention to their cooking and ensure that the food they are preparing does not have lumps, our campaign 'Gaanth Pe Dhyan', encourages women to extend the same care and attention to their health by regular self-breast examination. An effective analogy that brings home the point that a serious issue can indeed, have a simple solution. In this edition of Sunday Reads, Shilpi Ghosh, Communication Specialist at the Trusts, highlights the significance of effective communication in philanthropy through the journey of one such campaign #GaanthPeDhyan Read more about 'Gaanth Pe Dhyan': https://lnkd.in/d4d-CSd8 #SundayReads #SundayMotivation #GaanthPeDhyan #CancerSeJeetnaSambhavHai #BreastCancerAwareness #EarlyDetectionSaves #KaiseKaCancer #CloseTheCareGap #ItsPossibleToWinOverCancer #CancerFreeIndia #ImpactfulCommunication #CommunicationMatters #SDG3 #TataTrusts
