A two-year research programme, worth over £2,980,000, by the NIHR (National Institute for Health and Care Research) aims to address the neglect of oral diseases in Kenya, Colombia, India, and Brazil. This multinational programme is being co-investigated by six lead researchers, two of whom are from India -- Manu Mathur and Professor Abhishek Mehta.     Although very common, affecting over 3.5 billion people globally, oral diseases are largely neglected as a global public health problem. If left untreated, they can lead to significant impacts on quality of life, psychosocial well-being, health and educational/employment opportunities.
