On this #NationalSportsDay, we present to you a story of aspiration from an aspirational district in Kerala. Under the 'Rural Rising' initiative of United Way Bengaluru, we are committed to creating opportunities and recognizing that the true heroes are our community members, who can achieve the extraordinary when given a chance. While implementing our Rural Rising initiative in Wayanad, we discovered that many children from humble backgrounds dreamed of becoming athletes but lacked the necessary support and encouragement. By providing free coaching, sports kits, gear, and jerseys, we nudged them toward their dreams. Little did we realize that these small opportunities would set them on the path to becoming champions. So, how did this transformation occur? 🔹 It was the dedication, spirit, and courage of these young athletes, who trained and practiced tirelessly. 🔹Behind every successful team lies the commitment and dedication of a coach, and in this case, that coach is Vishnu. 🔹The shared vision of our CSR partner Herbalife and United Way Bengaluru has helped these young athletes soar. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and hope they continue to find success in life, building confidence and fearlessly reaching for the stars. #YouthEmpowerment #InspiringChange #SportsForAll Ajay Khanna Uday Prakash Shweta A Jha Varun K. A conducive, healthy and safe learning environment is crucial for children's development and effective teaching and learning. Ensuring that children from humble backgrounds also have access to the same educational opportunities as their peers, our Rural Rising initiative has transformed the educational experience for over 4,100 children across 20 Anganwadi Centres and 4 government schools in Coimbatore’s Sulthanpet and Kinathukadavu Blocks. From upgrading infrastructure to equipping centres with age-appropriate learning tools, digital classrooms, lab equipment, sports gear, and playground setups, United Way Bengaluru and CSR partner are committed to removing barriers to education for children from all backgrounds. Additionally, reckoning that educators and caregivers are responsible for shaping young minds, 100 Anganwadi Workers and Helpers have been provided with training in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) and gender awareness to support these changes. #EducationForAll #InclusiveLearning #EarlyChildhoodEducation Anil Kumar Y N Bhagya Kumar Pravin Yedurkar Sherly Infanta

The construction of percolation wells under the 'One Billion Drops' campaign of United Way Bengaluru has proven to be an effective solution for #recharginggroundwater and #mitigatingfloods. Coles Park is a prime example of this success story. Previously prone to flooding due to excessive rainfall, the park's situation has improved significantly following the installation of percolation wells. Hear from Sudhakar, from the maintenance team, who has been working at the park for the past 8 years and witnessed this positive transformation. Thanks to our CSR partner, Happiest Minds Technologies and Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (#BBMP) team from the East Zone, supporting the creation of 37 percolation wells that have the potential to harvest 47.40 Kilo Litres of #rainwater annually at Coles Park. #meettheteam Shreeya has been a part of our team for over a year now, and her cheerful personality lights up everyone’s day. It's amazing how quickly she has picked up Kannada – she interacts with the local community as if she’s known them forever. The kids in the area always get excited when they see her during field visits, which is heartwarming. From day one, Shreeya has been an invaluable member of our team, and we're thrilled to have her on board.

As we celebrated #IndependenceDay at #AnganwadiCentres across different locations, we loved the way parents enthusiastically dressed up their children as patriots and leaders. These young leaders symbolize the future of our nation and it’s our responsibility to ensure they grow up in a safe and #conduciveenvironment. Quality education, nutrition and health are essential to shaping them into strong individuals and #futureleaders. Donor's Delight is Our Pride! At United Way Bengaluru, we're extremely pleased to partner with Mphasis in #rewildingmangroves under the ‘Mangrove Matters’ campaign. The campaign aims to rewild 1 million mangroves across 1000 acres along the 720 sq. km Pulicat coastline, India's second-largest brackish water body. If you wish to learn more about #mangroveconservation, our in-house experts would be happy to guide you through the #restoration site and share firsthand experiences of the impactful efforts being made. Mphasis CSR team visited the incredible mangrove rewilding project at Pulicat! The once-degraded areas slowly transforming into lush green mangroves is a powerful reminder of nature's resilience. Mangroves not only support diverse marine life but also protect our shores from erosion and storms. Total carbon sequestration potential of the Mangroves project supported by Mphasis F1 Foundation is 960 tons annually. Kudos to the dedicated teams working tirelessly to restore this vital ecosystem. Do visit and witness the magic of restoration! We have often highlighted our efforts to enhance the skills of Anganwadi Workers through the Born Learning campaign initiative. But how has the Early Childhood Care and Education (#ECCE) training facilitated by United Way Bengaluru changed the lives of the Anganwadi Workers and children we work with? Recently, we had the chance to meet with Qamar Jahan, an Anganwadi Worker from the Ashapur Anganwadi Centre in Raichur, an #aspirationaldistrict in Karnataka. She shared how the ECCE training led by United Way Bengaluru has enhanced her #skills and confidence, transformed her #teachingmethods, and enriched the #learningexperiences of the children she works with.
