We’ve wrapped up the 2024 edition of Young Researchers for Social Impact! 🎉 Our themes for this year were education, gender, disability rights, mental health, urban development, and internet access and safety. The twenty research topics were developed in collaboration with our 10 partner organisations. This summer, students participated in weekend skill sessions to develop their capacity as critical thinkers and problem solvers, learning to use research and advocacy tools to address some of our most pressing social issues. Throughout the program, students engaged with stakeholders and experts in various fields to gain in-depth knowledge about their research topics. After five weeks of hard work, collaboration with mentors, and numerous drafts and deadlines, we are proud of this batch for producing such insightful research papers and impactful advocacy materials. Their effort is truly commendable, and we are thrilled to have mentored and supported such a bright group 🌟 Praja Foundation | Internet Freedom Foundation | BehanBox | Creatnet Education | Teach For India | Nyaaya | Shatakshy Bhatt | Apoorv Anand | Rhea Lopez | Navdha Malhotra |

He spoke extensively about his diverse experiences working with development sector organizations and ministries, shedding light on the intricate processes behind effective policymaking. Mr. Banerjee provided our fellows with a glimpse into PDAG's work on the welfare of migrant workers and climate justice. The session was an engaging blend of theory and practical knowledge, it guided our fellows towards the next steps. Thank you, for taking the time to share your expertise and experiences with us!

Last night, we launched the ‘Bridging the Gap: Women powering Tech Policy' program in partnership with Microsoft and Young Leaders for Active Citizenship (YLAC). This is a part of the Asia edition of ‘Conversations Unscripted’, an initiative of Microsoft aimed at empowering women in the tech policy landscape. We were honoured to host a fireside chat with Mr. S Krishnan, Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, who emphasized the necessity of applying a gender lens to developments in the digital economy and technology policy. We also had a wonderful panel discussion with Dr. Preeti Banzal - Adviser/Scientist ‘G’, Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, Nivedita Mehra - Managing Director, US-India Strategic Partnership Forum, Dr. Sarayu Natarajan - Co-founder, Aapti Institute and Arjun Venkatraman - Program Officer- Digital, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The panel discussed the different experiences that women have had in the public policy field and areas of further research to study gendered impacts of tech policy. We thank all our panelists and attendees for contributing to this vital conversation. Thank you to our partners Garima Rathore, Sandeep Aurora, Jyoti Pawar at Microsoft for supporting this important initiative. Stay tuned for more engagements and opportunities as a part of this program! Aparajita Bharti | Rohit Kumar | Sanskriti Bhatia | Manan Katyal | Ishita Bagchi | Himani Chouhan | Shivangi Tyagi |
