I am currently in the middle of this! 😅 The best way to overcome this is to go through a certain set of steps: 1. Understand the issues. Take feedback without any judgement or bias. 2. Ask for clarity if something is unclear. Do not assume. 3. Ratify your thoughts with client again, so that there is no duplication or repeat issues. 4. Take a step back and creatively assess the feedback and reorient yourself to the changes. 5. Most often the answers will be there for you to see. 6. Make the changes and corroborate with the feedback. Stay your ground to certain things you believe to be true and then re-present your design. 😊

Lee Clow said it many years ago- "The best revenge is a better ad"! I used to follow that till I realised, there is no revenge here. It is work at the end of the day for a client who is paying the bill. Few things to do: 1. Listen. 2. Use logic to convince. 3. If that doesn't work, go back and create a stronger piece of communication. 4. Look for an alternate metaphor or logic to communicate the solution. At the end of the day we are working for a client and however dull the response may seem, either sell the idea or work on a stronger one!

Diverse opinions are good. The team that comes up with diverse povs is a great team. As a leader a few things you need to keep in mind to evaluate and move ahead: 1. Does it fit the brief? 2. Is it appropriate for the Brand 3. Does it translate well into various forms and media? 4. How will the Target Audience receive the design? 5. Is it path breaking or is there a wow? 6. Will you kill to sell the design? If the answer is in the affirmative then, yes, go for it!

1. If you want a crack team then you have to first figure out what is it that you want to be known for! 2. Look for the people yourself and don't depend on an HR exec to do that for you, simply because your motivation and their motivation are totally different! 3. Look for people with diverse experiences for your team, the people who have immersed themselves head first are the ones you want with you. 4. Encourage straight talk. Call a spade a spade and allow them the power to do so. An empowered team is a killer team. 5. Lastly, encourage 'me time' for the team to rejuvenate and regenerate. Nothing better than a team with batteries fully charged.

I love people who love design and don't have a degree in design. It is purely because they bring a lot more to the party: * They are enthusiastic people * They love to learn and are sponges * They are not stuck by rules but figure their way around * They have fresh ideas and approaches * They commit themselves to design and don't behave like entitled people * They are unafraid of trying things * They are the true warriors with a pen, a brush or a stylus In short, be all of these and you are going to rise to the top like a helium balloon on steroids!

Design is a personal choice and aptitude. Can you see things in 3D or do you have a good sense of physics or are you inclined to solving structural problems? These are some questions you need to answer if you want a career in Industrial design. Graphic design needs you to see things mostly in 2D and sometimes along a third axis. Mostly it is solving a communication issue. Decide where your heart and aptitude lies and go for it. Also there are no boundaries you can't cross to solve a product problem being a graphic designer or vice versa. Boundaries are fluid when you have a sharp sense of problem solving!
