Most of the times we listen with the intent of giving answers to the question or give solutions. Instead, if we listen with the intent of being in the opposite person's zone, it makes a lot of sense. No judgements, No solutions, No recommendations. In Dr. Stephen Covey's works "First Seek to understand, then be understood"

How can you build successful relationships with colleagues who have different communication styles?
In my view, it all starts with deep and empathetic listening to individuals. By listening, we tend to understand the other person's communication styles and their preferences. Apparently it helps to have a meaningful conversation as per that. Tools like DISC, Strengths Finder, MBTI etc, will definitely helps, but starting it with a humanistic approach makes is scalable across different type of people.
