It’s been a wild ride trying to manage studying along with trying to gain work experience. However I have learnt a lot throughout the way. I have always wanted to work in the field of psychology but unfortunately this is a field that requires “prior experience”. Being a student, no matter how much confidence I portrayed or how much knowledge I had about the field, everywhere I went prior experience was something I lacked. Hence I decided to start at a place where experience wasn’t required, I did an internship at Metvy which was online, didn’t get to learn quite much except client interaction. Then I did something I was interested in that is HR at Vidhyam Tutorials, I scheduled interviews and even took interviews with clients and students, it was a great experience, however it wasn’t my calling. Then I got extremely busy with college work and stopped working for a while. At the end of my second year in St. Xaviers college I realised this is it, I will soon have to go out and work in the real world. Hence during my second year vacation, I worked in a startup company called MiceKart, I was interning to improve company operations, side by side I was doing something I was really passionate about, that is I was also doing content writing for a self growth app called BetterYou. Out of the two I really liked the one I could be free and creative in, while one gave me the real corporate experience I realised it wasn’t something I’d want to do. After completing the internship I continued working with BetterYou. It taught me a lot of things. In October, after 6 months of working there I decided to look for something new. Finally, I found something in my field, the field of psychology. It was an opportunity to be a behavioural therapist at Butterfly learnings. At first it was intimidating, but it was the best decision I made. I cleared the interviews, completed the trainings. Now today, 2 months working here there is so many things I’ve learnt and I wish to continue learning and this is something I am really passionate about.
