Fall Style in the Dining Room
This Post May Contain Affiliate Links. Please Read Our Disclosure PolicyI recently took to my dining room to add some fall style by creating a seasonal tablescape and embellishing my bar cabinet. Let me show you what I did.
I think I should have called this “fall entertaining week” on Inspired by Charm. Yesterday, I gave you another tour of my kitchen and shared seasonal cheeseballs with you. Today, I’m back to give you a look around my dining space with its nod to fall.
It was just last week that I revealed my new dining table and chairs. The timing of their arrival was great since my brain was swirling with ideas for fall and Halloween decorating.
This tablescape ended up being something quick and fun that I thought you might want to see. To start, I used round rattan placemats. I chose circular placemats because rectangular ones or even a runner can be problematic on a round table. And while rattan works any time of the year, I especially like the texture and warmth it offers in the fall.
Next, I added white plates topped with colorful plaid napkins I found at HomeGoods. On top of them, I went a bit nontraditional and used blush pink plates. It may be hard to tell in the photos, but it’s the perfect hit of unexpected color.
Some brass and black pumpkins (from West Elm last year) finished off the place settings, and vintage polka dot glassware adds a fun and whimsical flair.
I’m part of a flower CSA from a local garden, so I put those blooms in a mason jar to dress up the table. The colors of the flowers and the napkins were a serendipitous combination.

I continued the decorative fun over in my bar cabinet.
Remember that vintage wood tray I hung on the wall in my kitchen? Well, I used another one here to corral a vase of Amaranthus, a basket of plums, and another brass pumpkin. I love using trays when decorating. Without the tray, this set-up might look a bit cluttered or random. Grouped together in this manner, it all looks organized and purposeful.
A stack of books and candle complete the look.
I can’t tell you how much I’m loving jewel tones this fall. That deep rich burgundy is mesmerizing. And it works beautifully with the purple and deep turquoise.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this look around my dining area and gathered an idea or two for your own space. What colors or themes are inspiring your fall decor? Please let me know in the comments. (I have more spaces to decorate.)
As always, have fun creating your happy place!

Beautiful! I have to say I am totally in love with the vignette on your bar cabinet. The tray really does give it just the right amount of definition. Such a stylish, yet relaxed and comfortable space!
The jewel tones you’ve chosen for fall are wonderful and happy. Your apartment is so full of sunlight that it must be a joy to live in. I’m heading over to Home Goods now to see what I can find. Thank you for such inspiring ideas every time you post!
Jewel tones are my favorite! It is amazing how you are able to take the simplest items and make them look like a million bucks! You are gifted Michael, truly gifted!

I love the bar cabinet — so unique since people usually ‘hide’ their liquor behind closed doors. I just recently subscribed to your mailing list and am thoroughly enjoying your site!
