Let’s Make Parmesan Truffle Popcorn!
There’s a local restaurant that has this Parmesan Truffle Popcorn on its menu as an appetizer. My mom and I decided to give it a try. So, we ordered it and we were instantly hooked! This stuff is so wonderfully flavored and addictive, that we had the entire bowl emptied in no time.
I love this recipe because it would not only make a great snack for movie night, but it doubles as a really easy appetizer recipe if you’re entertaining.

While popcorn is delicious on its own, the combination of parmesan, truffle, and a little fresh chive takes this to a whole new level and makes it taste like a gourmet treat.
Truffle and truffle oil is definitely a unique taste. It’s really difficult to compare it to anything. Some say it has a slight garlic flavor with a deep musky aroma. I really enjoy it in pasta dishes and apparently on popcorn too!
What’s the difference between black truffle oil and white truffle oil?
I’ve done a bit of research and the general consensus is that black truffle oil is a bit strong and earthier compared to the more delicate, onion/garlic fragrance found in white truffle oil.
Which do you want for this Parmesan Truffle Popcorn? That’s up to you! Both will work. If I had to recommend one, I’d go with the white truffle oil.
Truffle oil can add a strong flavor. If you’re new to using it, I recommend starting out with less and adding more to taste.

Now that you know all the ins and outs of truffle oil, let’s get into the other ingredients you’ll need for this Parmesan Truffle Popcorn.
- Popcorn – You can use whatever brand you’d like. I used Sea Salt Smart Pop and found it to work great for this recipe.
- Truffle Oil – I picked up my truffle oil at HomeGoods in their gourmet section, but most grocery stores seem to carry it these days.
- Shredded Parmesan Cheese – Freshly shredded is always best.
- Salt and Pepper – Use according to your taste. Since my popcorn was salted, it didn’t need much. Try tasting your popcorn first and add more if needed.
- Chopped Chives – The chives aren’t necessary, but I love the added color, freshness, and flavor.

How to Make This Parmesan Truffle Popcorn
As I mentioned above, this recipe is so easy to make. I’ll walk you through the steps here. You can find a full printable recipe below with ingredient amounts.
- Begin by popping your popcorn according to the package directions.
- In a large bowl, add the truffle oil, shredded parmesan, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
- Add the popped popcorn to the bowl. Using a spoon or spatula, toss to combine.
- Sprinkle with additional salt and pepper to taste, then top with the chopped scallions.
A lot of the ingredient amounts in this recipe come down to personal taste. Want more truffle oil, add it. Love parmesan cheese, sprinkle on a little more.
