Do-it-yourself HPV kits could screen an additional million women for cervical cancer, a major King's led trial has found. The YouScreen trial provides 'game-changing' evidence that self-sampling could help reverse the declining rates of cervical screening. Dr Anita Lim said: "It is crucial that we make cervical screening easier by introducing innovations like self-sampling, alongside the current cervical screening programme, to help protect more people from this highly preventable cancer." I had the opportunity in recent days to participate in the annual congress of the Australian Society for Microbiology. It was a very interesting moment to exchange information with the Australian scientific community. I thank our colleagues at Interpath Services for hosting us and taking us to visit various hospital facilities in different cities, which has definitely enriched us further.
