Today, long-duration energy storage solutions, i.e. storage solutions with discharge durations of eight hours and above are not yet widely commercially viable, but increasing power price volatility in selected markets and potential for cost reductions already point to nascent LDES solutions becoming a complementary part of future energy systems. While there is an increasing body of literature that details the technical specificities of various LDES solutions, our aim with this report is to bring an investor viewpoint to the sector and to inform professional investors on our ongoing monitoring of this emerging sector.
