The SoM Manufacturing Group is a Research team of the Department of Management, Economics and Industrial Engineering of Politecnico di Milano, one of the leading technical Universities in Europe. The group is composed by professors, researchers, PhDs and experts with different backgrounds that range from technical disciplines to managerial experiences and proactively cooperates with research and competence centers as well as industry and policymakers. The mission of the SoM Manufacturing Group is to be a joining link among market, institutions and academia and to generate and spread knowledge about the most promising and the most urgent topics for companies with specific focus on manufacturing themes. The activities the SoM Manufacturing Group is involved in can be gathered in: advanced research, European projects, innovation & technology transfer projects, collaborations with the national and international ecosystems. The objective of the Group is, on the one hand, to proactively contribute to the expansion of the boundaries of knowledge by bearing in mind the real needs of companies and, on the other hand, to support companies in achieving the same level of excellence. In doing this, the focus is both horizontal, by looking at all the manufacturing processes in an integrated way, and vertical, by deep investigating specific niches like those related to Industry 4.0 or Sustainable/Circular Manufacturing.

His achievement is a testament to his outstanding research. We are happy to announce the success of the TREASURE project (Leading the TRansition of the European Automotive SUpply chain towards a circulaR futurE). A few days ago, the project consortium held the last review meeting with Vessela Stoyanova-Monteleone, part of European Research Executive Agency (REA), where all the project results were presented, marking the successful conclusion of this journey. 🚗♻️ Coordinated by Politecnico di Milano, TREASURE brought together 15 organizations from 6 EU countries and 1 extra-EU country (Switzerland), each contributing unique expertise and knowledge. Implementing these expectations requires a tiered approach. ⚙️ In our new publication, we present a maturity matrix that identifies positions or dynamic states in a continuum of actions towards a structured transformation pathway. While the matrix doesn't resolve all areas of tension, it sheds light on the practical aspects of developing circular economy business models, an area often overlooked in existing literature. The 6th IFAC Workshop on Advanced Maintenance Engineering, Services, and Technology #AMEST2024, held in Cagliari from June 12-14, was a success! https://lnkd.in/eFNvngth Chaired by Irene Roda (Assistant professor at the Politecnico di Milano and part of the @Manufacturing group), Simone Arena (University of Cagliari), and Alexandre Voisin (University of Lorraine), and organized with invaluable support from the National Organizing Committee members Adalberto Polenghi (also part of the Manufacturing group) and Chiara Franciosi, along with AMEST WG Chair Christos Emmanouilidis and Scientific Secretary Ajith Kumar Parlikad, the workshop united leading experts from academia and industry. AMEST 2024 showcased the latest advancements in Maintenance and Asset Lifecycle Management, aligning with the vision for sustainable, human-centric, and resilient industrial systems as outlined in Industry 5.0. The event featured 72 paper presentations including three inspiring keynotes from Adolfo Crespo Marquez, Dimitris Kiritsis, and Birgit Vogel-Heuser, who shared best practices and visions for digitized and interoperable maintenance and asset lifecycle management.
