I started writing on LinkedIn in October 2023. Since then, I have been posting around:
- Continuous Improvement
- Lean Manufacturing
- Growth Mindset
- Innovation
Including insight on:
- 5S
- VSM
- Kaizen
- Leadership

The current technological advances, along with an ever-increasing application of new information technologies, are driving the manufacturing industry towards smart manufacturing. This new paradigm seeks to integrate operational technologies, information and communication technologies and advanced manufacturing methods to drive the creation of new manufacturing systems with greater performance capabilities. The manufacturing industry will be characterized by decentralized, distributed, networked composition of autonomous systems.
The idea of autonomous systems, which are able to respond quickly to unexpected events and make
the best choices in the shortest time, is becoming a reality. Autonomous systems need however to have realistic integrated models, i.e. digital twins, which are intended to reflect the current state of manufacturing processes, the system behaviour in interaction with its external environment, the human employees’ properties, etc.
The concept of digital twin is now at the forefront of Industry 4.0 zeitgeist. However, the term “Digital Twin” is non-harmonized and often misleading. The dissertation aimed at analysing the current literature with a view to shaping a clear definition of digital twin, identifying its role within Industry 4.0 and investigating which are the potential benefits of a successful digital twin-based strategy in manufacturing.
The following research questions guided the study:
RQ1: How can Digital Twin be defined within Industry 4.0?
RQ2: What is the Digital Twin role within Industry 4.0?
RQ3: What benefits can a successful Digital Twin strategy bring?
Furthermore, this paper put the concept of digital twin in a practical context by presenting a single-case study of Kverneland Group Kerteminde A/S – Grass Division located in Kerteminde, Denmark.

Using tracking systems to improve service quality in Healthcare

Although the risk of thefts can only be reduced and medication errors are almost inevitable, equipment and patient safety can be enhanced by means of apposite IT systems. The implementation of patient and equipment tracking systems is the next breakthrough in the field of Healthcare requiring the involvement of all healthcare providers and users.
The following activities have been carried out:
✓ Did a literature review of tracking technologies (RFID, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc.)
✓ Conducted an exploratory single-case study at Odense University Hospital
✓ Visited few OUH departments
✓ Collected qualitative data interacting with practitioners
✓ Proposed solutions to improve patient flow and safety

Developing an automation system for the electrical components industry
-
A small company specialized in selling electrical components has experienced too many errors in a manual process. Therefore, the board has decided to automate it.
The following tasks were carried out:
✓ Created a specification of the system
✓ Created an overall design of the system, i.e. in-flow & outflow of materials, extensibility and adaptability
✓ Made a presentation for the board company with the overall design and estimations (e.g. CAPEX, OPEX)
✓ Made a risk…A small company specialized in selling electrical components has experienced too many errors in a manual process. Therefore, the board has decided to automate it.

The big-data revolution in Healthcare

Healthcare has larger data than others and every year new applications which generate data exponentially are dramatically arising. These big data concerning patient services were stored in hard copy form, but the new trend is leading to the digitization of them. The explosive increase in the rate of data did not allow healthcare providers (such as doctors, physiotherapists, public hospitals, etc.) to manage complex data by hardware and/or traditional software methods.
The following tasks were carried out:
✓ Did a literature review about Big Data
✓ Conducted an exploratory single-case study at Odense University Hospital
✓ Interviewed managers and practitioners
✓ Investigated patient-reported outcome (PRO) applications and the app ‘Mit Forløb’
✓ Collected qualitative data
✓ Reported the findings
