Informazioni

I am an experienced scientist who earned a PhD in cancer immunology from the University of Padua (Italy) and developed efficient problem solving, communication and project management skills at the University of Miami (USA).

I possess an extensive knowledge of preclinical mouse cancer models, drug discovery timelines and procedures, as well as excellent technical skills and in-depth knowledge of immunoassay, flow cytometry, and imaging techniques.

I have participated in 5 internal and external collaborations, including a clinical trial (NCT02544880) and a collaboration with a pharmaceutical biotechnology company. I maintained positive and fruitful professional relationships with biologists, surgeons, pharmacists, and bioinformaticians and developed skills in planning, executing, and delegating research activities.

My experience, management and cross-functional collaboration skills have resulted in 13 high-level publications published in scientific journals such as Science Translational Medicine and Journal for Immunotherapy of cancer.

I enjoy working in a diverse and multicultural environment where different backgrounds can come together and create innovation. My experience at the University of Miami has put me in contact with people from different parts of the world, allowing me to open my horizons and learn how our different traditions and values contribute to creating something unique and global.

I am very detail-oriented and like to be hands-on; I want my work to have a real positive impact on the lives of cancer patients. I have applied my values and technical skills in the research and development of nanoplatforms based on aptamers and dendrimers to be used as a research tool or in the clinic to help fight cancer. This has led to 2 patents:
1) U.S. Patent 11,364,305: a commercialized research tool based on dendrimers for in vivo targeting of tumor-infiltrating immunosuppressive cells.
2) U.S. Patent App. 17/436,773: an aptamer-based nanoplatform designed for in vivo targeting of tumor-infiltrating immunosuppressive cells.

During my experience as a Ph.D student I worked principally on tumor educated myeloid cells, a heterogeneous population of myeloid origin, associated with tumor development and progression that produces a strong immunosuppression at the detriment of cytotoxic lymphocytes. I handled various aspects of the biology of these cells, both phenotypic and functional, with a particular interest in their mechanisms of immunosuppression in the tumor micro- and macro- environment. My work was focused on different tumor models as breast cancer, prostate cancer and fibrosarcoma.
