Group R&D Controller - Milano Nord

Objective of the role:

The Group R&D Controller is responsible for financial/scenario analysis and reporting to support the R&D decision-making in line with the achievement of Group’s financial objectives. Providing strategic guidance as well as timely and accurateinsights about R&D spending and financial controll with a clear cost optimization approach.

Key responsibilities:

Perform all financial controlling activities of R&D projects, from in licensing activities, up to business valuation as well as evaluation of economic terms of vendors’ offers/contracts, providing decision support also regarding procurement activities.

Ensure effective challenge of R&D spending through involvement in procurement activities (e.g. reviewing economic terms of work orders above a certain threshold) as well as efficient cost monitoring.

Own reporting processes and deliver timely and accurate reporting information and insights, acting as a business partner for the several R&D functions (e.g. New Drugs Incubator, Drugs Development, Quick Time to Market).

Pro-actively enhance the reporting processes and tools to enable a more effective decision-making on development activities.

Perform R&D budgeting and forecasting activities, cost monitoring, quarterly closing and reporting for the assigned portfolio in collaboration with Project Managers, analyzing potential deviations and pointing out significant issues.

Collaborate with the Head of Group Controlling & Reporting and with the whole Central Finance Team in order to achieve the Function’s targets in the more efficient way, taking into considerations priorities and special projects that will materialise.

Requirements:

Bachelor degree in Business Administration / Finance & Control.

3+ years of experience as R&D Controller or similar positions within the Pharmaceutical/ Chemical industries.

Strategic thinking and problem solving.

Ability to act with a clear result-oriented approach.

Project management, planning and analytical skills.

Strong verbal/ written communication and interpersonal skills.

Agile, collaborating and dynamic attitude, with a strong business acumen.

Attention to details and talent for accuracy and precision.

Full Proficiency of English language (both oral and written).

Knowledge and utilization of ERP systems as well as proficiency of MS Office.
