I'm excited to share that I've gained an EELISA European University Credential with my participation in STAR – Sustainable Territories through Action & Research community's 'Shrinking Places and Cultural Heritage' Course held by globally known PSL Research University. Through this achievement, I've gained the 'Discovery' and 'Knowledge' Badge of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal - SDG 11. Sustainable Cities and Communities. The European Engineering Learning Innovation and Science Alliance (EELISA) is a consortium of ten higher education institutions in Europe including Istanbul Technical University with the ambition of creating a common model of European engineer and bridging engineering, sciences and humanities for inclusive, sustainable and digital societies. I've participated in lectures and at the end of the course, I've prepared a Final Report and Presentation titled 'Hagia Sophia's Transformation Through the Ages.' I want to thank the organization committee; Prof. Emmanuele Cunningham Sabot, Dr. Norma Schemschat, PhD, Alix de La Gaignonnière and Gisele Yamauchi for such an inspirational experience with researchers from multi-disciplinary backgrounds.

Allo stesso tempo, però, un nuovo strumento, il computer, sta influenzando il video, così come tutta la cultura, per cui ci troviamo veramente in un'epoca nel bel mezzo di una rivoluzione tecnologica, una rivoluzione nella creazione di immagini, una rivoluzione nel pensiero, una rivoluzione nella comunicazione e in qualsiasi cosa che influenza la nostra vita: banche, notizie, acquisti, negozi... L'intero mondo è influenzato da questo mezzo, e io credo che ci siano molte analogie tra oggi e il XV secolo. Ci sono molte analogie. Pensate al XV secolo. All'inizio del XV secolo ci sono stati artisti che hanno scoperto e realizzato un modo completamente nuovo di creare immagini che avevano tre dimensioni. Ed è stato incredibilmente radicale, assolutamente radicale che un'immagine su un muro creasse l'apparenza della profondità, dello spazio. Nessuno ci aveva mai pensato prima, e questo ha prodotto un nuovo modo di fare immagini così diverso dal passato, dai sistemi di creazione di immagini gotico bizantini... I don't want to say post-video age, but we're in a new age right now, a new time, and video has a very special place in that time. At the same time though, a new instrument, the computer, is now affecting video as well as the rest of the culture. So we are truly in an age that is in the middle of a revolution in technology, a revolution in image-making, a revolution in thinking, a revolution in communication, and anything else you can think of that affects your life: in banking, in news, in buying things in shops... The whole world is being affected by this medium, and so I think there's a lot of parallels between today and the 15th century. There's a lot of parallels. Think of the 15th century. In the beginning of the 15th century, you had artists discovering and realizing a brand new way of making images which had three dimensions to it. This was radical beyond belief, absolutely radical that an image on a wall could give the appearance of depth, of space. That was not.. No one had ever thought about that before, and it created a new way of image-making so different from the past, from the Gothic Byzantine image-making systems of the past...
