UD Trucks Southern Africa organized the regional Extra Mile Challenge drawing together truck drivers from various sourthern African countries and companies. The Extra Mile Challenge is a global competition that tests drivers’ skills – from pre-drive inspection and maneuvering, to fuel efficiency and safety. This year it is being held for the seventh time since 2015. Participants competed in challenges focused on fuel-saving, truck inspections, and reverse parking. The winners of Quester and Quon categories will represent Southern Africa in the global final in Ageo Japan in October. UD Trucks is pleased to recognize and celebrate the unsung heroes of smart logistics, the drivers. UD Trucks Quality Assurance function held a Townhall meeting which was a platform for the QA team to discuss key updates, challenges, and future strategies. The Townhall meeting was opened by UD Trucks SVP Quality Assurance, Yamada Kazutoshi, who delivered a keynote speech on the expectations of ‘One QA’. The QA Leadership Team then provided activities updates, highlighting key achievements and challenges across different teams.    A significant part of the meeting was dedicated to discussing the QA House - the foundation of their strategy. The QA House represents the purpose, vision, and mission of the QA team, and how they excel in quality innovation and operational excellence. The team also discussed their long-term aim and strategy alignment towards 2030.     The event included a QA Awards ceremony to recognize the outstanding contributions of team members. The awards were split into the six following categories: Reliability, Customer Satisfaction, Quality Innovation, Operational Excellence, Kaizen, and QA Challenger. A huge congratulations to all the winners from QA, who were recognized for their outstanding achievements!      ＵＤトラックス品質保証部門（QA）は、タウンホールミーティングを開催し、重要な最新情報や課題、今後の戦略について話し合いを行いました。ＵＤトラックス品質保証部門SVPの山田和利が「One QA」への期待について講演を行い、続いて、QAリーダーシップ・チームが活動の最新情報を共有し、各チームにおける主な成果と課題を強調しました。    ミーティングの大半は、戦略の基盤であるQAハウスについて話し合うことに費やされました。 QAハウスは、QAチームの目的、ビジョン、使命を示し、どのように品質またはオペレーションの革新を進めるかを表すものです。 チームはまた、2030年に向けた長期的な目標と戦略の整合性についても話し合いました。    最後に、「 信頼性」「顧客満足」「品質革新」「オペレーショナル・エクセレンス」「改善」「QAチャレンジャー」の6つのカテゴリーで、チームメンバーの優れた貢献を称えるQA賞の授賞式も行われました。QA部門の受賞者の皆さん、おめでとうございます！ #UDTrucks #UDトラックス #qualityassurance #品質保証

In July, UD Trucks Technology function held their THM & Awards Ceremony. The meeting hosted a range of speakers including SVP Technology UD Trucks, Douglas Nakano & Managing Executive Officer, Isuzu Development Division Carbon Neutral Strategy Division, Takashi Oodaira. Several meaningful topics were covered including the importance of understanding differences, fostering a collaborative work environment, and building bridges for seamless connection and collaboration.  The event also included an insightful and engaging panel discussion on topics such as developing the next generation of leaders and how we can further overcome language and cultural barriers. The THM concluded with a strong message of unity and collaboration, whilst fostering a culture of continuous improvement. During the UDTT Awards ceremony, we celebrated many exceptional colleagues across our Technology function. As part of its community outreach programs, UD Trucks India has launched “Adopt a Village”, which supports various initiatives in Hesaraghatta Gram Panchayat, a rural area with a population of 16,000, located 30 kilometers from central Bangalore. In alignment with our Better Life purpose, UD Trucks India is focusing its efforts on four key areas: education, rural development, women empowerment, and environmental conservation. Gemba Challenge 2024 qualifying rounds are underway with a record-breaking number of teams and markets are taking part. There are a total of 724 teams registered, which equates to a 23% increase from the last Gemba Challenge in 2022. This shows the high interest in the competition and desire of service teams from all around the world to demonstrate service excellence. This year the teams are also more diverse than ever, with 149 female participants joining the competition. Female empowerment is not just about equality; it’s also about driving innovation and creating a more dynamic workplace.  What is the Gemba Challenge?
