  • In the heart of the ocean, coral reefs thrive, not just as breathtaking spectacles but as the unsung heroes of our planet. These intricate ecosystems, buolt over centuries, shelter millions of marine species. protect coastal communities from storm surges and even provide oxygen in the air that we breathe! Sadly, climate change and pollution are threatening their survival, the vibrant colours of thr reefs are fading. A sharp reminder that nature's balance is very fragile and our actions really matter. The world needs solutions. At the Kenya Ocean Climate Innovation Hub, we are spearheading and calling for action to protect these beautiful ecosystems. Let's save the ocean! #Marinelife #Marineconservation #ClimateAction #Sustainability #Coralreefs #Marineecosystems #Climatechange #Oceans #savetheocean

The #OceanDecade endorses 16 projects actions to increase ocean resilience and awareness worldwide! 🔹 The Decade Programme Global Ecosystem for Ocean Solutions, led by Ocean Visions will host 10 new Projects to scale up solutions around the ocean-climate nexus. These initiatives focus on the restoration of marine ecosystems and biodiversity, climate remediation, carbon dioxide removal technologies, and digital coastal ecosystems. Based on multidisciplinary collaboration and co-design, these Projects will be implemented in coastal areas, including in Africa and Caribbean Small Island Developing States. 🔹 Under the umbrella of the Ocean Literacy With All Programme, led by UNESCO Ocean, six Projects will accelerate a fundamental shift in the way our ocean is valued, understood, and managed. These initiatives will build an ocean literate society through formal and informal educational and awareness-raising tools, including gameplay and immersive 3D imagery. The ocean is our strongest ally against climate change. But climate change is severely harming the ocean and its ability to regulate the climate. Protecting the ocean and the services it provides to people and the planet is imperative, the same way that addressing climate change is inseparable from preserving and restoring the health of our ocean. As part of the #OceanDecade, scientists across the world are helping to deliver the science we need for the ocean and the climate we want: www.oceandecade.org #ClimateCrisis

Have you ever wondered why it feels so nice being by the ocean and feeling that gentle cooling breeze? Well, here ia the rwason: It is because of what the marine biologist Dr. Wallace J. Nicholas defined as the Blue Mind: The therapeutic landscape enhances the human condition and mental health. The Ocean does this and so much for us: ➡️It gives us 50% of the oxygen that we breathe. ➡️It makes 90% of our ecological living space. ➡️It makes 96.5% of all the earth's water. ➡️It absorbs almost 30% of carbon from the atmosphere and captures 90% of the heat generated by carbon emissions. .............. yet we continue to ignore it! #oceans #oceanclimate #climateaction #carbonremoval

  • Who will rescue this situation? While hundreds of people have ventured into space, and a dozen have landed on to the moon, only three have touched down on the deepest known place on the sea floor! This stark difference between the ocean and space exploration can be attributed to the lack of ocean investment. According to statistics, as of 2023, approximately $117.8 billion has been invested in space exploration. Earthiness reports less than 1% of funding has been devoted to ocean studies. Currently, researchers have very limited ability to meaningfully collect, aggregate and search complex data about our oceans yet these waters cover over 80% of the world! Who will come to the rescue? WWhat can we do? We definitely have a work to do! #Oceans #Oceanexploration #Climatechange #Innovation #Oceanconservation #Deepwaters #Lifebelowwater #SDG14 #Sustainability Peter Teye Busumprah Mariam Swaleh

  • The #oceans know no boundaries, and their conservation demands a unified approach. By joining forces, we can amplify our impact, tackle complex issues, and create lasting change that will benefit both #marine life and human communities. One of the key objectives of uniting for conservation is the preservation of marine #biodiversity. Our oceans are teeming with life, from coral reefs to vast oceanic ecosystems, providing habitats for countless species. However, habitat destruction, overfishing, and climate change-induced disturbances threaten this delicate balance. Through collaborative efforts, we can establish marine protected areas, implement #sustainable fishing practices, and combat pollution to safeguard the diversity of marine life. At the Ocean Climate Innovation, Kenya, we wholeheartedly embrace the theme of uniting for #conservation. We are dedicated to leveraging our expertise to amplify the voices and initiatives working towards ocean conservation. By spreading this message, we aim to inspire and #mobilize individuals to join the #global #movement for change, empowering them to make sustainable choices and contribute to the preservation of our oceans. #oceans #conservation #marinelife #biodiversity #climatechange #sustainability #climateaction #impact #mobilize
