#CATCH Pitching Day Tripoli/Al Mina: DONE ✅ Throwback to last Thursday with our first batch of #CATCH teams presenting their visionary ideas with such passion and creativity! Each team brought forward powerful solutions to tackle local environmental and economic challenges, showing us what true innovation and collaboration look like. With a friendly face many of you know, Kamal is our youngest Project Officer at #INJAZLebanon (and he’s still a University student!). Kamal started his entrepreneurship journey through #GIL programme. Today, he’s the founder of Sunblend, a healthy snack brand offering veggie chips and sugar-free fruit rolls inspired by traditional Lebanese flavors. His quest began by spotting a gap in the market – instead of sugary snacks, people needed treats that were tasty, healthy, and locally produced. From there, he turned a simple idea into a growing business with high-quality products and attractive packaging! Kamal’s advice? "Start your small business even if you're uncertain of the direction. As you move forward, new doors and opportunities will open. You might end up with a product you didn’t expect, and that’s where a market study helps shape your business. The serious work has begun, and we couldn't be more excited! Over the past few weeks, these youth-led teams have been diving deep into the circular economy, crafting innovative business models to tackle local environmental and economic challenges. Now, it's time to gear up for the next big milestone: 𝗣𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗮𝘆! In Company Program, we strive to empower young high school entrepreneurs to develop business solutions that tackle real-world challenges. But impactful change begins with understanding the people we’re trying to help. This year, as we focus on Science Education for youth, it's crucial to remember that our innovators and entrepreneurs are youth themselves. For them, making a difference starts with listening – 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 – to their peers' experiences. Whether it’s the challenges they face, the obstacles in their learning journey, or the dreams they hold for a brighter future. Understanding these stories is key. The first step in this process is creating a safe space for sharing – a circle of empathy. Here, youth come together to share their personal stories and the challenges they encounter in accessing quality science education. These shared experiences provide the insights needed to develop new solutions that grow organically from the ground up. Of course, to gain empathic insights from the people we want to help, we use a variety of tools – whether on their own or in tandem with others – such as one-on-one interviews, empathy mapping, day-in-the-life studies, role-playing, journey mapping, focus groups, and more. When we empathize, we don’t just hear stories; we plant the seeds of innovation that have the power to transform one’s experience. From pitching projects and creating prototypes to acing on-stage jury questions, they demonstrated an array of creativity, determination, and sportsmanship. With the support of MetLife volunteers, our young leaders grew confident in managing their financial futures and took charge of their learning while having fun along the way. As we look back, we’re incredibly proud of our – now – alumni who turned challenges into wins, proving that with hard work and a fun learning experience, anything is possible – even navigating financial literacy in a complex economic reality.
