Whether you are a song writer, star gazer, bird watcher,
solo retreat-ist or you/your family are simply looking
to escape ‘far from the madding crowd’, then
Leskernick is the perfect destination.
Nestling all alone, on Bodmin Moor and surrounded by hundreds of acres of open moorland, Leskernick
is totally unique in its remoteness within the south west. Yet, it is in easy reach of the north Cornish
coast with places such as Boscastle, Tintagel and Trebarwith Strand well within an hour’s drive.
Slip on your walking boots and head straight out onto the moor for endless walks, including ‘Brown Willy’ (Cornwall’s highest point), the Rising Sun pub at Altarnun, the famous Jamaica Inn or explore around Leskernick Hill investigating ancient stone circles while the dinner bubbles in the Aga. Off grid and off radar, at the end of a 1.5 mile long rough stone track which meanders across the moor, you will need to have a vehicle with good ground clearance (ideally a 4×4), in order to make it down to the cottage.

The Old National School
Dartmoor
If Leskernick is a little more remote than you’d prefer, or if you don’t have
a suitable vehicle to access the cottage, then you may like to consider
our other moor land cottage. The Old National School is based on beautiful
Dartmoor, near to our home and just 10 minutes by car from the
market town of Tavistock. Still with walking straight from the door onto
the moor, it is easily accessed whatever type of vehicle you have.
