Hilti Foundation

The green light for creating the Hilti Foundation was given in 1996 to support the research work of underwater archaeologist Franck Goddio. Since then, the work of the Hilti Foundation has expanded considerably. Together with a network of international aid organizations and partners, the Foundation has pursued sustainable goals, focusing its efforts on three thematic areas: Music for Social Change, Affordable Housing & Technology and Economic Empowerment. All three fields have a single common goal: They want to enable disadvantaged people to become economically independent through their own efforts, allowing them to lead better, self-determined lives.

Empowering Dreams, Transforming Lives 💪 Meet Lucy, a young woman whose life has been transformed through the PropelA program. By combining classroom learning with practical experience, the vocational education program ensures that students are well-prepared to tackle real-world challenges and find opportunities in the labor market. We aim to inspire and support more young women to consider careers in critical, often male-dominated, industries. Initiated together with Swisscontact, the PropelA program gives them the tools for success and self-worth. Lucy is in the process of building her career in construction and is already eager to give back to her community: “With this program I have found myself. A Day in the Life of a PropelA Apprentice 🛠️ 📚 The PropeIA program is a great example of the transformative power of combining practice and education in Kenya. It seamlessly integrates classroom learning with on-the-job training to allow students to become professionals in critical sectors. How does this program work? Apprentices spend one week each month at school, gaining essential theoretical knowledge. For the remaining three weeks, they apply what they have learned at partner companies under the guidance of experienced mentors.
