A mother who gave birth in the back of an ambulance was reunited Friday with the Long Island first responders who helped deliver her baby.

The baby girl was delivered by members of the Farmingdale Fire Department Wednesday before the mother could get to the hospital.

Fire crews say Gina Murphy was on the way to the hospital with her husband when contractions began to come faster.

The couple called 911 and their baby girl Mackaley was delivered in the back of an ambulance at 7:10 p.m.

"I was scared, but they were great, and they just kept reassuring me, 'It's gonna be OK and she was gonna be fine,'" Murphy says. "And that was all I care about was that she was OK."

The family's first stop after being discharged from the hospital was to pick up Mackaley's older brother Mason and to visit the first responders who welcomed the bundle of joy into the world.

The fire crew members had an application for a junior membership and a gift basket with clothes, diapers and toys waiting for Mackaley when she came to visit.
