This project aims to transform water management 💦 by creating an advanced system integrating smart metering devices with a robust real-time monitoring, diagnostics, and control platform. With this innovative solution, we’re questioning what’s possible in smart infrastructure, aiming to make water management more efficient and sustainable. And we are focused on completing it successfully. This ambitious initiative, officially known as “𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐈𝐨𝐓-𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐠𝐧𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦” (Project No: 02-020-K-0037), has a total project value of €3,610,204, including a co-financed contribution of €2,000,000 from the European Union and the Ministry of Economy and Innovation (Ekonomikos ir inovacijų ministerija). It began in August 2024 and is expected to be finished by August 2026. It also proves that our work and our long history in developing smart meters have been noted, valued, and approved by EU institutions. 𝐃𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐞 The Drought Indicator for Europe demonstrates that already this spring, warning drought conditions were seen in eastern Spain, most of southern and central-eastern Italy, Malta, most of Romania, Poland, Baltic regions, most of Greece, northern Balkans, western Cyprus, the Mediterranean islands, and most of Türkiye. Some areas in the Mediterranean region, particularly in central and southern Italy, Greece, and south-western Türkiye, were under alert drought conditions, with some impacts on vegetation. This phenomenon remains much more severe and prolonged in Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia, causing significant impacts. 🔥 This is not great news as more than 10 European countries have already seen the impact of the lack of water in nature. It has led to adverse effects on the sowing and biomass growth for winter crops and fruit trees 🍒 🍊 🍏 , and critically low reservoir levels have reduced irrigation capacity. 💧 The implications of this water issue are far-reaching and could disrupt our daily lives. From restrictions on the daily usage of water for car washing 🚗 and garden watering to a limit on water consumption per person. While we may be unable to control nature, 𝐰𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲’𝐬 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬. A smart meter can help reduce non-revenue water by approximately 10 per cent. That is an impressive number. 𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 This month, the European Commissioner Virginijus Sinkevičius, responsible for the Environment, Oceans, and Fisheries 🐟 , visited our plant. His time dedicated to our organisation is also a time to identify the real solutions to the global #water issue 💦 that a Lithuanian company is creating and exporting worldwide. With this meeting, the European Commissioner shows that the European Commission and the whole European community see the importance of finding effective and practical solutions to manage water scarcity and water distribution issues for the entire continent. 🌎 Hearing and seeing how our smart meters are created and produced gave him a better understanding of the tools we already use to help Europeans save water.
