According to a new poll from The Health Foundation, more than half of NHS staff are ‘looking forward’ to using artificial intelligence at work, with 76% in favour for patient care and 81% for admin tasks. The public also shows support, with 54% backing AI for patient care and 61% for admin. However, concerns about AI’s impact on the human dimension of care persist, with 65% of NHS staff worried it could make them feel distant from patients. At Oxipit, we believe AI can enhance care quality and reduce workloads. By automating normal chest X-ray reports, ChestLink allows radiologists to focus on complex cases, ensuring optimal patient care. 📢 Exciting developments in AI for healthcare! Ellen Phiddian's article in Cosmos Magazine highlights how a team of US researchers, including Dr. Naoki Takahashi from the Mayo Clinic, have developed an AI algorithm to spot prostate cancer on MRI scans. This AI performs as well as experienced radiologists and works even better in combination with them. It's fantastic to see our shared vision of enhancing diagnostic accuracy with AI come to life, significantly impacting patient care. The recent decision by the new Labour government to shelve £1.3bn in funding for tech and AI projects has raised concerns about the UK's competitive edge in technological advancements. This includes the exascale supercomputer at Edinburgh University. At Oxipit, we believe strategic investment in AI is crucial for innovation and efficiency in healthcare. While economic stability is important, prioritising tech funding is essential to drive advancements in AI, particularly in fields like radiology, where we strive to improve diagnostic accuracy and reduce workload pressures. 🚨 The Society and College of Radiographers (SCoR) highlights a critical issue: NHS waiting times for scan results are far behind targets, with nearly 200,000 patients waiting over a month. Charlotte Beardmore CBE CBE, Executive Director of Professional Policy for the SCoR, says, "It is very concerning to see the increase in the number of unreported images a year on. This impacts care for patients causing delays to their diagnosis and potential impact on their treatment outcomes. " At Oxipit, we believe AI-driven solutions can help alleviate these delays by automating normal scan reporting, allowing radiologists to focus on complex cases and improve patient care. We had an inspiring time at #RADAIM 24, where AI in radiology took center stage. Highlights included Philips and Anil Gupta showcasing diverse AI applications and success stories from I-MED Radiology Network's Saji Karunasena and Annalise.ai's Dimitry Tran. Dr Ian Kadish provided a visionary outlook on radiology's future. A standout was Prof Catherine Jones's presentation on the National Lung Cancer Screening Programme. It was also fantastic to connect with Jamie Osmond, Anthony Saliba, Peter Sundic, and George Salmo. Kudos to Rhys Wallace for organizing this fantastic event! #AIinHealthcare #Radiology #Innovation #Oxipit
