📣 Meet the Speakers📣 As our inaugural Taxand European Tax Liability Insurance Conference approaches on Thursday 19 September in Amsterdam, we are delighted to introduce the first prestigious panel who will be joining us to discuss trends and hot topics in the Tax Liability Insurance Market, including typical risks that are being insured, risks under audit, and forward-looking policies. Moderating the first discussion will be Christina Leomy-Voigt, Partner at ATOZ Tax Advisers Luxembourg, Taxand Global Member in Luxembourg. Christina has over 15 years’ experience in advising alternative investment fund managers across all asset classes and in structuring Pan-European alternative investment funds for institutional investors. Christina will be joined by the following esteemed guest speakers: Greg Branagan, a Tax Underwriter at Mosaic Insurance, with a broad remit to insure tax risks across Europe and Asia. Greg has more than 10 years’ experience advising clients on a variety of tax matters. Jakub (Kuba) Grabarz runs Howden’s tax insurance offering in the Netherlands and CEE region and has more than 10 years of experience as a Dutch qualified tax lawyer. Jan Christoph Kubicki, who is Head of Tax - DACH at Acquinex, and responsible for the management and the development of the tax insurance product in the DACH region. Christoph has been involved in the placement of tax insurance policies covering a variety of different tax risks in particular in the German market. Finally, Egbert van der Graaff, a Senior Vice President at Euclid Transactional joins us to share his experience and insights as a tax underwriter responsible for underwriting tax risks for clients across EMEA. Amendments to Turkish Tax Regime The Turkish Government has recently implemented new withholding tax changes through Presidential Decree No. 8775. Australia: Foreign Resident CGT Regime Expansion The Australian Treasury has recently released a consultation paper proposing changes to Australia's foreign resident capital gains tax (CGT) regime. Rhys Jewell, Jonathan Farrer and Joel Nixon from our Australian member firm Corrs Chambers Westgarth have analysed some of the key points of the paper, including a broadened asset definition, an extended Principal Asset Test, increased reporting obligations and a higher withholding rate.
