Beautiful railing, no surprises. There were several different options, clearly sketched out, and when requested, Anthony showed me pictures so I could choose the style I liked. He said it would take about two weeks for them to make it, but it was less, then they came and put the railing into our concrete stoop in about an hour. It's exactly the right height for holding onto as you go up (we are getting old and really need that). It looks like it's always been there (which is what I was going for) and he accommodated the posts up to the awning, and talked me out of replacing them. That's an honest contractor. Sweet guy, good price.

The photo I uploaded is what I really wanted & never got. Trickery was the game being sold to me, with false hope. I was offered a bait & switch item while being played for months. It's so sad that some workers think being deceitful is a way to do business. I'm glad I was ghosted by this guy I first thought he was so nice, even though he also rescheduled our 1st appt for a measurement at the last minute. I'm grateful he did not get a dime from me, but he sure was ready to pickup my deposit. I took my business elsewhere.
A reply to your ranting lengthy words. I'm a Senior Tech Savvy Lady almost 60. I have no reason to lie about you. You only came to my home 1 time & I welcomed you & we talked. I showed you a ready deposit check to give once the order was written up. So crying & whining about gas is not working. We communicated only by texts & emails. I immediately chose the project & was happy. But you wanted to give another available fence, which I didn't want. So that's when I was ghosted. When I tried calling, you would never answer, only voice mail came on. Customers when you expose the demon in folks they got a lot of untruths to say. Just trying to make themselves look good & worthy, " But You Failed. " Touche !!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
Dishonest sales person Anthony. Poor quality of product. Sloppy workmanship. Mechanics have no respect and damaged my property. 6 service dates planned with Anthony for resolution were all, no shows, no call, no text. Numerous text over the month for resolution. Excuses: Truck broke down. Car broke down. Got into an accident. Finally Anthony stopped responding to any of my text. Don't waste your money, your time or your energy.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

R&A's services were great. I had lots of questions regarding the gates. He was very communicative and did the job just how I wanted for a reasonable price. I would definitely work with them again. Definitely would recommend R & A Welding.

I have been waiting a long time to write a review as I generally give all vendors the benefit of the doubt. However, it's been eight months since we had a stair bridge installed. Granted, I went with R&A because they were the cheapest (maybe too cheap). I currently have an expert (ex-NYC bridge builder) working, priming, painting, and leveling the work. Here are the issues I had:
The stairs were installed with an approximate 2-inch slant (that's more than rainwater runoff, as I was told by the installers)
Puddle in the bottom of all stairs (so much for rainwater runoff)
The stair was supposed to be built for one side sitting on a concrete deck, the other in the dirt.
The dirt side has been settling further, increasing the slant.
The stairs are already completely rusty.
The metal wasn't primed.
The paint used was likely a cheap Rustoleum. Not pro products.
The guys were friendly and service-minded. However, it is a bummer to pay a premium for a product to make sure it's up to code, only to get something that is sub-code and that you could have made for $2500 less in wood and had it be more refined.
They did promise 4 months ago to come have a look at it. But nothing so far, hence me contacting a local expert to have it brought up to code and treated to last more than a couple of years.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

My front gate and my driveway gate were broken and wouldn't close I came onto yelp to find a company that repaired iron gates and Anthony the owner reached out to me right away with a reasonable quote. We set up an appointment for the following morning for him to come out and do the job, he was on time, very professional and did an excellent job fixing my gates. I'm very pleased with the entire experience and I highly recommend this company they are amazing at what they do.

Thank you for your business
- Apr 18, 2019Updated review
7/5/18 - He advised it's raining tomorrow, so he changed it to Saturday.
7/7/18 - He finally comes to do the installation for the doors, but he says he will finish the fence on Wednesday.
7/10/18 - He asked if we could reschedule to Thursday, the day before and saying it is more convenient for them. I said I have meetings and I can't since I planned everything around Wednesday. I told him we have prolong this way too long and the door design is not even what was discussed. I told him that I can't just keep switching days, since when he was here on Saturday, he said Monday, and then he switched it to Wednesday and now Thursday. He now agrees to stick to Wednesday.
I want to address the fact that I was under the impression that Anthony was a 5 star business because of Yelp, and this is what I expected, but did not receive. Would I recommend him, he wouldn't be my first choice, but I am speaking straightly that my advice is don't expect anything and then you'll be happy.
He did finish the front door, back door, and fence, however, it took 3 months instead of 5 weeks later after signing the contract.
He didn't provide the correct colour, nor the correct design of the tip of fence, or the correct design of the door and wrong fence closure. We have asked for a lockable door fence, but he provided a cane bolt instead and hard to open to get in and out. When we mentioned the mistake, he pulled the same game that he did with the paint colour that he would need to charge us $130, but he would do us a favour and put in the single lock for free. How could it be free if all these designs and asks were already agreed upon during the signing?
Anthony - I said I was going to write a review and I did as promised. Don't take this the wrong way, this is a constructive criticism and you should work on being organized and figure out how to properly retain information that your clients' asked for and if you can't do it. Speak up, but don't wait until the last minute and pull out a story saying either you don't remember or that's not possible. Because I mentioned what I liked as the tip of the fence and it was a very simple design, nothing intricate, because I called out on how those designs has a weak point in the design. I am not trying to hurt your business, but I want you to be accountable for your mistakes. I am not here to tell people don't use you. I would use you again, now that I learned how you operate. I would print samples of images and give it to you in a folder rather than me showing it to you and trusting you that you took notes on it and I would keep sending you those images to keep them fresh in your mind.
I would not expect you to finish in a speedy manner and I would have to be firm with you regarding a solid date, since people work and can't just work off of what is convenient for your truck route. I have no ill feelings towards you, and I wrote this review to not give people false expectations, because that is what happened to us.
Overall Yelpers - you just have to be Anthony's project manager and make sure he's on track and remind him of what you want. I am not knocking his workmanship, but this is strictly on the service and execution and client's requests.Helpful 6Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi I apologize for taking too long to install the job I miscalculated the time it was going to take us to deliver the jobs we had before im 99% on time on my work we always try our best to be on time but cars and truck break new cars or old cars theres nothing i can do the truck we have gets the job done from the beginning i tols you we carry black white grey primer and red primer and regular brown if you want a different color please provide the paint u gave me a paint name and i should of never took the responsibility to buy this paint. I should of let you buy the paint we did not charge extra to buy or to paint the job once we got to your place we notice the color was different i did not charge you to repaint the entire job again since home depot has the same color name but is a different color mistake happen and my mistake was to buy the paint i should let you guys get from the beginning also told you light colors take longer to paint since you have to give the job multiple coats of paint 1-primer wait for the paint to dry then 2 coats of the color you wanted and in between those coat of paints we have to leave a day or to to dry everything is build from scratch You complaining over the job being late but you dont talk about the job being great the install was great and it looks amazing. Thank you for the one star review and please reply back with a picture of the actual job so everyone can see how amazing your house look have a good weekend
Apr 13, 2019Previous reviewI was going to come out of retirement sooner to write this review, but better late than never.
I want to be honest to the people on Yelp, because I didn't pick Anthony, but someone else did because they saw the high reviews on Yelp.
We didn't have the same experiences as other people on here.
We had called R & A to get a quote and on 4/12, we advised we were going with R & A. Anthony then came back and remeasured and we got an estimate on April 14, 2018.
We put down 50% deposit that day and we were advised it would take 4 - 5 weeks to install.
Days have passed and we heard nothing and I reached out on 5/18 and Anthony advised that his dad was still working on the fence. He said 1 and half weeks and it will be ready.
5/30/18, I checked in and no response.
6/5/18 - checked in and Anthony advised waiting on 2 x 1 tubing and advised he wanted to come back to measure again (3x measuring the same thing), because what he wrote down, he can't read it due to blurriness.
6/6/18 - Anthony advises 2:30 and is 20 minutes late, I only point this out because people are saying he's on time.
6/14/18 - I followed up again with him and pointed out that I have been the one following up with him and not vice versa. Anthony apologized and said he will install the front part because it is taking up too much space. I told him to take the initiative to follow up with me and not the other way around.
6/15/18 - For the first time ever, Anthony reaches out to me first and told me that they will change it to Wednesday, since Tuesday is going to rain.
6/18/18 - I followed up with him and asked if we're still good with Wednesday and he replied yes, and will do a second coat of paint tomorrow. He provided a picture. The picture - I thought the colour was weird, but I thought maybe because it is a primer and not the paint itself, since it didn't look like the right colour. However, I pointed out the end points were not what we discussed and instead the end points were what I actually hated. I wanted a very simple fence and with no decorative points. We go back and forth and meanwhile, when he was on site, and I showed him what I liked and what I didn't liked, never once did he say to me what I liked he couldn't do. He is now telling me he cannot do a simple straight point, but swears up and down that I agreed to these decorative spikes that I hate. He advised he is coming at 11 am on Wednesday and ask me about the back door gate. I advised him the door opens to the left when facing the back and he advised it should be the other way, but I advised there's a window and it would take up too much space. I mention this because he has measured the place 3x already and this worries me that he would still not have all the necessary information down right when the installation is next week.
6/20/18 - Anthony tells me the truck got a flat tire because the stuff was too heavy for their truck.
6/21/18 - Anthony says truck's axle broke, and will get it back on Saturday, but he advised to just make it on Monday. But I advised that Tuesday would be better and after asking him, he advised 10:30 am.
6/22/18 - I advised it has to be Wednesday instead because of work.
6/27/18 - I can now see why the truck they have would break down, since it's not even a heavy duty truck. It is a small pick up truck. In that small pick up truck was a dirty looking yellow white fence. You got to be kidding me. He said that was the paint colour that we provided, but meanwhile on the contract it says "beigewood 1007 paint". Yes, he didn't think it was important to write down the manufacturer of the paint, but it was Benjamin Moore and the other thing he didn't think was important to do was to give the paint mixer the name and the maker, but instead he gave them only the number - 1007. Meanwhile, Home Depot doesn't carry Benjamin Moore and now I know why the colour is a dirty looking yellow white. Meanwhile, Anthony even said he thought it looked different. Like I am not a professional painter and even I would know to get the brand name, the name colour, and number. Anthony was nice enough to bring me to the hardware store, but even though he made this mistake, I had to pay for the paint and he made it seem like he did us the favour by offering "customized paint colour". But hellos, he charged us for this "customized mistake paint colour". If he did us the favour, we wouldn't have to pay or pay for the mistake that he made. Since the paint was different, he wasn't able to install the fence today, because he had to go back with the paint that I bought to repaint.
6/30/18 - Anthony followed up and advised that they are free Tuesday, Thursday or Friday. I picked Tuesday and he said he was going to install everything.
7/2/18 - Anthony tells me they're not coming tomorrow, since it's July 4 weekend, meanwhile didn't he know it was early July before he told me his availability? He tells me Friday.
WILL FINISH THIS REVIEW ON AN UPDATE, since it's too long. - Edwing M.Queens, NY11322Mar 20, 2020Updated review
I was so happy with my initial install: 5 stars. Since then, I have taken off three stars because, when a problem arose with the fence and the alignment several months later, they were no-shows and somewhat unresponsive after a dozen communication attempts that I kept initiating. After months of waiting for R&A to come and see what the issues were with the fence, I ended up hiring someone else to fix the damage (caused by a neighbor after they detached a portion of my fence that R&A soldered onto theirs [to stabilize my fence post] when my neighbors installed a new fence themselves) as well as this install, which was nowhere near deep enough to begin with (so of course the fence and gates began falling into each other and none of them closed or locked without further lifting, pushin, and pulling, which then, in turn made the fence stability worse and worse).
I tried and tried and tried for months (I have the proof!), but the more I waited, the worse the problem got. Despite my best hopes to the contrary, R&A proved through their (in)actions, that they wree clearly not going to be my solution. Their initial install looked great and the fence itself was strong, but the foundation for the posts were sub-par in depth and led to an entire re-install, having to drill 18 additional inches into the ground (including removing a prior fence post that R&A worked around but didn't remove), and soldering an extension of the fence posts to make them as stable as they could have and should have been the first time.
I know R&A is very busy (we all are), but I don't think waiting for months and being told "I'll be there on Thursday at 11am" for several weeks in a row (with a no-show each time) is at all acceptable. I paid a pretty penny to install the fence initially, and paid to have it repaired yesterday. I wanted to pay R&A to do so, but they didn't even come by to see what happened to their own install.
I'm sorry to have to write this less-than-stellar review, but I am just being as honest when things got bad, as I was when things seemed to be great.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

We are not working at this time the company that installed the fence damage the cement that was holding your fence
That has nothing to do with our work.. who ever you hire new will have a story on how the fence didn’t stay in place that’s how mechanics do put one business down to put them self up.. we appreciate your business the first time around we sorry we couldn’t come to an agreement.. thank you for your businessSep 14, 2019Previous reviewI came across R&A Welding from a Yelp search (of course!). I sure am glad I did!
Anthony is the operations/business lead in a Brooklyn-based father/son business with nearly 50 years of experience. That kind of experience proved to be extremely helpful, as installation day came, and my work site proved to have several unexpected complications. Or at least unexpected to me. Anthony, his master welder dad, and their long-time assistant (Tony) work really well together. If you speak Spanish, and hire them, I hope you'll find their chemistry as endearing as it was comfortable.
Truth be told, R&A Welding was not my first quote request. They were, thank goodness, my last. And I would hire them again in a heartbeat!
I reached out Anthony via Yelp, and he responded almost instantly. Very soon thereafter (and before other companies I had contacted at the same time), Anthony and I had an appointment time to get an estimate for the job. Anthony listened carefully to my unusual request for a wider-than-standard double gate with a locking mechanism, all on a 25-foot wide property that had a 1foot slant drop between the north side of the job and the south side of the job. Anthony made several suggestions and provided several words of caution that I, as an amateur, completely appreciated. He knows his work so well, that after listening to the wish list of things I wanted for my front yard and driveway fencing job, he gave me an estimate that was almost identical to the second lowest quote I received from a large franchise company. What I sensed as priceless, though, were Anthony's confidence in his work and the quality of work that they would deliver, as well as his honesty in telling me that his workload meant that my job might take 5-6 weeks to complete. Since I am of the belief that good work from affordably-priced professionals is worth waiting for, we agreed on the job. Within hours, I had an e-mail with the contract and deposit invoice. When I signed and returned the contract by e-mail, and I paid the deposit electronically, the job was begun. How do I know? Because Anthony responded to every one of my annoying text messages asking him how my job was coming along. The whole thing was essentially built to custom specs, and I was kept apprised of every step along the way (the build, weld, paint, etc.).
Right on schedule, the installation began. Anthony sent me a text the day before and, as scheduled, arrived with his team at 11:15am (within his estimated window of arrival). They got to work right away. The only thing they asked for was one electrical outlet for several of their tools. And, understandably, a restroom after working non-stop for 6 hours straight (through a n instant cardboard pizza lunch). They even brought their own water to mix the concrete!
They kept a solutions-oriented, quality-embodying focus on their work, so that, no matter what happened or what came up, they would finish a great job on the day they promised to do so. With the expertise of the father-son team, any and every problem that arose during the installation was solved immediately and effectively. The entire install team communicated (and listened carefully to questions and suggestions) as the fence components were going up. The biggest issues came with the leveling of the fence with the existing adjacent structures, as well as the leveling with the natural drop/slant of the street. Though they had accounted for these when they built the fence, they couldn't account for things like a previous fence post entombed in concrete in exactly the same spot where the main driveway's new fence post was supposed to be.
R&A Welding paid attention to every detail as if this were their fence at their home. You can't buy that kind of care and pride for one's work all that often anymore. In addition to caring about the smallest of details, Anthony and his dad cared so much about both the appearance of the fencing as it was taking shape, as well as how functional and practical it was. Everything was built custom and those last minute fine details (such as the locking mechanisms, etc.) were built on site the day of the installation.
The fence turned out beautiful, as it secures and adds value to our property, and brings important peace of mind. R&A Welding made this possible, doing so as quickly as possible, for as reasonably priced as possible, and with a level of professionalism and authentic pleasantness that made spending a Saturday with my fence welders an actually enjoyable experience.
If you have a chance to use their services, I completely recommend them! This is an important investment in your property and your peace of mind, so you probably don't want to do so with just anyone. R&A Welding will make sure that you're happy and proud of your decision to hire them. I know I am. - Melissa R.Brooklyn, NY027Nov 30, 2022

Being a first time home buyer as many can relate I was very hesitant and picky to hire just anybody to do the railing of my backyard.
Fortunately, my coworker recommended R&A iron work. I called for an estimate and they arrived the next day.
Anthony was very professional, patient, and honest with the work that needed to be done. I was very pleased with the pricing and they started the job a week later.
Let me just say that I am completely satisfied and happy with how efficient, and prompt they were. Anthony and his workers met all my expectations.
I recommend R&A to anyone that is looking for a job well done! Thank you so much!!!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information
