We’re heading back to the garden in April! If you missed out last time, this is your chance to volunteer at the jane b semel HCI Community Garden in the Sunset Recreation Center. For this event, volunteers can expect to do the following activities: seed starting, planting, mulching, weeding, composting and watering. We hope to see you in the garden!

Los Angeles Audubon Society

The mission of Los Angeles Audubon Society is to promote the study and protection of birds, other wildlife, and their habitats throughout the diverse landscapes of the Los Angeles area, and to stimulate popular interest in and access to nature for all Los Angeles communities by engaging youth and adults in conservation and education activities, providing opportunities to learn about birds, and advocating policy that protect birds. They seek to cultivate the next generation of environmental stewards, one Angeleno at a time.

Los Angeles Regional Food Bank

The mission of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank is to mobilize resources to fight hunger in our community, ensuring that no one goes hungry in Los Angeles County. To fulfill this mission, the Food Bank sources, acquires, and distributes food as well as other products to needy people with the help of partnering agencies and Food Bank programs. Please join us on their Community Impact Day on Saturday, 5/7 from 9am - 1pm. Join Bruin volunteers as we will help assemble food packages for over 27,000 low income seniors, women with infants, and children in Los Angeles County.

HCI Community Gardens

The jane b semel HCI Community Garden provides an on-campus space for the UCLA community to grow healthy food and foster education of urban gardening practices. In partnership with the Semel Healthy Campus Initiative Center at UCLA, envisioned and supported by Jane and Terry Semel, volunteers can learn about promoting community building and address food insecurity on campus.

For the past One Bus, One Cause event on February 26, volunteers did the following activities: seed starting, planting, mulching, weeding, composting and watering.

Cheer On LA Marathon Runners

Volunteer with the LA Marathon on Sunday, March 20, 2022 and support the Hirshberg Foundation For Pancreatic Cancer Research. Volunteers will watch the marathon, cheer runners on, or hand out refreshments. All ages are welcome! By volunteering, you will be supporting runners who have trained for months while also raising funds to fight cancer.

PS I Love You is dedicated to the development and implementation of effective social and emotional learning and resilience programs to benefit at-risk youth from elementary to high school and spread love. Volunteers can expect to design Eblasts messages to email to an internal database of volunteers and donors..
