This page hosts requests for global (un)blocks, (un)locks and hidings.

If you are here because you have been affected by a global block, please see Global blocks/FAQ for more information about global block and routes to appeal.

Note: (un)blocks apply to IP addresses or accounts; and (un)locks apply to global accounts.

Cross-wiki requests
Meta-Wiki requests

Requests for global (un)block

Please be sure to follow the instructions below:
Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions.
Please also review Global blocking .
Global blocks don't affect Meta-Wiki, so if your IP address or account is blocked, you can still appeal here. IP addresses or accounts that cause disruption on Meta should be reported at Meta:Requests for help from a sysop or bureaucrat instead of here so that they can be blocked locally.
Please describe the kind of cross wiki abusive activity you see from the IP or account. Saying an IP or account is a long term abuser is not helpful, but saying "IP vandalizes at ban.wikipedia, no.wikipedia and vi.wikipedia" is. This is especially important for range blocks. If you do not provide enough details, your request might be declined.
Instructions for making a request

Before requesting, make sure that:

  1. You know the IP address(es) or accounts you wish to have globally blocked or unblocked.
  2. For blocks, the global blocking criteria are met.
  3. For unblocks, your request addresses the original reason for blocking the IP or account, if any.

To make a request for the address(es) or account(s) to be blocked or unblocked

Copy the template below to the bottom of this section and explain why the address(es) or account(s) should be blocked/unblocked.
=== Global block/unblock for [[Special:Contributions/Some IP address or account|Some IP address or account]] ===

Description, evidence, diffs, etc. --~~~~
When requesting that your IP be unblocked, note that stewards need to know your IP address to even consider a request.
To find your IP, please visit https://www.whatismyip.com/
You are not required to disclose your IP in public - you may make requests privately to any steward on IRC or by email at: stewards@wikimedia.org

Global unblock for 146.185.28.59

The reason given is Cross-wiki spam: Hoster / VPN service + open proxy at 146.185.28.178. My current IP address is 146.185.28.59, and the blocked range is 146.185.16.0/20. -- Si Gam (talk) 05:05, 10 August 2017 (UTC)Reply

Comment: If it is a "private internet organization" (i.e., private web browsing through facebook's virtual servers), then it is considered to be a "webhost", not an open proxy, which is still blockable. 2601:1C0:10A:F73A:1056:9979:D4E9:73AE 11:18, 18 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

Global unlock for 93.104.210.103

Status:    In progress

Please, consider unlocking IP 93.104.210.103 from the 93.104.208.0/21 network. This IP belongs to a hosting company and currently is assigned to my server.

Sometimes I use it as a proxy to access the Internet. There is no open proxy, though. — mrDoctorWho 03:50, 19 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Note: Most webhosts are generally blocked from editing Wikipedia due to abuse, however, there's likely a way that you can receive IP block exemption. It's possible for en.wiki (per en:Wikipedia:IP block exemption), but I'm not sure if there is a way to do this for globally blocked IP addresses. 2601:1C0:4401:F360:8460:2EED:6C93:6013 03:54, 19 July 2017 (UTC)Reply

Requests for global (un)lock and (un)hiding

Be sure to follow the instructions below:
  • Your request might be rejected if it doesn't include the necessary information.
  • Warning! This page is publicly viewable. If the account name is grossly insulting or contains personal information please contact a steward privately in #wikimedia-stewardsconnect or email your request to the stewards VRT queue at stewards-oversight@wikimedia.org (direct wiki interface) but do not post it here. Thanks.
  • Warning! This is not the place to ask for locks based on your opinion that someone is disruptive. Global locks are used exclusively against vandalism and spam, not because of content disputes, not because you think that someone deserves to be globally blocked. In such cases, you should ask for local blocks at appropriate places.
  • If you are globally locked, you should appeal your lock to stewards-appeals@wikimedia.org.

Please describe abusive activity of an account before reporting them here. Since stewards are often not active at projects the reported accounts are, things that seem obvious to you may not be equally obvious to the reviewing steward.

Instructions for making a request

Before requesting that a global account be (un)locked, please be sure that:

  1. You have evidence of cross-wiki disruption from the account(s).
  2. You can show that it is not feasible to use local-only blocks or other measures like page protection to combat the disruption.
  3. You have considered making the request in #wikimedia-stewardsconnect, especially for account names which will be hidden, or for urgent requests.
To make a request for an account to be locked or unlocked
Copy one of the codes below to the bottom of this section and explain why the account(s) should be locked/unlocked.

To the Stewards, Bernard is a CU and can confirm a new block evasion [2] --Ks-M9 [disc.] 16:24, 28 July 2017 (UTC).Reply
I created it simply to continue editing. There is no vandalism or anything bad. I am worried that Wikipedia in Spanish will be so drastic with users who want to edit for the first time, or who want to resume editing, and I am also puzzled by the fact that they consider everyone as a "toxic element" to Anyone who gets blocked. 181.61.83.227 18:23, 28 July 2017 (UTC) PD: The last text is traduced by Google"Reply
See w:WP:BE and w:WP:SOCK - Using other account to continue editing while blocked is not permitted in most Wikimedia projects, even if the editor only makes good edits.
  • For Diegusjaimes: I suggest you do no edit in Spanish Wikipedia, using any account or anonymously, in no less than six months (i.e. until at least 2018-1-29) and request an unblock there. You're free to contribute other Wikimedia projects once you are unlocked.
  • For stewards: I think the account can be unlocked as long as there're no longer crosswiki issue. This allows user to make significant and useful contributions to other WMF projects (which is beneficial for unblocking in eswiki).

Global unlock for Donald Trung and The Ivory Cowboy

Status:    In progress

Let’s look at the claims of “cross-wiki abuse” here, in no way or form am I saying that I didn't commit abuse at the enwiki, but cross-wiki abuse is a wholly different claim.

Let’s first look at the blocks at Commonswiki, the original rationale was not a username violation, it was not vandalism, or any other type of disruption it was always “abusing multiple accounts” which can only be attested if there actually has been abuse committed by one account making edits by the others evasion. Obviously accounts that are clearly related to each other are meant to pretend that they're from different people, and it’s not like making a new account because you don’t want to continue using a previous bad faith name is considered a legimate use for making a new account. But then again asking how to appeal a block on another wiki is obviously abusing commonswiki. It’s not like immediately deleting the question and then immediately making sure that the person can’t appeal on that wiki is somehow against community guidelines and can be considered an abuse of sysop tools or anything, it’s not like going out of your way to delete that same question on other wikis and insulting the person is uncivil or anything.

“Provide a reason for the block. The rationale should preferably use links to relevant policies to help the blocked user understand why they have been blocked. Where appropriate, diffs or permanent links documenting the reason for the block are also helpful.”

At all times on Commonswiki all Daphne Lantier did was state “abusing multiple accounts” after deleting non-harmful messages asking how to appeal a block on the enwiki, no links to any relevant policy or details as to how I had abused these accounts was made, at en:User talk:Zzuuzz the only rationale he provided was that It’s a “sock farm”, if you’re not blocked prior on a wiki (as I wasn’t on commonswiki) nor insulted anyone there, or attempted to disrupt anything making multiple accounts in no way constitutes “abuse”, and if so this had to be clearly stated on a talk page rather than using the vague wording “Abusing multiple accounts” without any links to related policies or guidelines (as I at the time did not know what was meant with the phrase and asking it meant that I would immediately get blocked).

“Account creation should be prevented in most cases, but may be allowed when blocking an inappropriate user name to allow creation of a different name.”

As is for username violations as I had with the unfortunate username which was the whole reason I made other accounts afterwards.

“Only prevent the blocked user from using their talk page or sending e-mail if they are likely to abuse these privileges.”

Since the message on Commonswiki literally was how to appeal a block on the enwiki without the above it's not only salt in the wound but deliberate sabotage of any unblock appeals on my part. Note that at no time did I abuse my talk page privileges outside of the enwiki.

Other than that Daphne Lantier deleted the images uploaded by me as “Copyright violations” let's look at the dictionary definition of a copyright violation. “1. Any images uploaded by users prior to their blocks, 2. Any images uploaded by people Daphne Lantier and Andrej Polishname don't like” ah, apparently I was wrong, or maybe incorrectly tagging a page when you delete it is an abuse of sysop tools, and note that once you’re blocked you can’t contest a deletion, especially if you can’t access your talk page or e-mail anyone.

and since copying the same message counts as cross-wiki abuse, or maybe it's only abuse when I paste the same message, note that the message asked how to appeal a block on another wiki. But then again Commons administrators also seems to think that cross-wiki sockpuppetry is acceptable if it's done by an admin.

Let's look at DoRD’s claim of me making “attack accounts” well only two the one with the unfortunate (which I had requested to be renamed but was denied), and another one making a less than civil joke with that same user’s name, in no way did I make any other “attack accounts” and never did I insult anyone outside of the enwiki.

I never “impersonated” the enwiki admin either the accounts were named after the block, not the admin himself/herself and always contained the phrase “respect mobile users” often asking for information how to appeal a block without talk page access and e-mail access, note that I had mostly made these accounts outside of the enwiki so impersonating anyone from the enwiki on wikis where they don’t edit makes no sense, nor did they ever edit outside of their own userspace often just asking how to appeal a block on another wiki, no local admin from high traffic wikis from countries with lots of English speakers (India, the Philippines) thought of this as offensive, I never edited with any other account on most of those wikis so claiming “sockpuppetry” would be fallacious here. But let's look at the dictionary definition of impersonation here “never claiming to be someone else or be related to that person” or is this just the new definition? By the way similar usernames are allowed as long as you don't pretend to be them. But then again you can be blocked on 7 wikis without it being “cross-wiki abuse”.

At no time did I ever insult anyone outside of the enwiki and the blocks on commonswiki were for being accounts that were clearly related to each other (the opposite of sock puppetry), I had already requested a global rename for the bad faith and was denied. I did not plan on nor am I ever planning to insult or “attack” anyone outside of the enwiki. The Widr accounts are single-purpose accounts designed to ask how to appeal a block on the enwiki (at that time I had no idea that either the ArbCom or UTRS existed, nor did any admin ever take the minute to point these out). Single-purpose accounts are allowed as long as that purpose isn’t disruptive, or is asking questions now a form of disruption?

And I’m also requesting an unlock 🔓 for The Ivory Cowboy 🤠 here because it’s the only other account of which I still remember the password (something with “Jones” and “Hat”).

Did anyone even look at the edits made outside of the enwiki? or did everyone just assume bad faith simply because I made them? Everyone knows that the founding principle on which Wikimedia is based is to assume bad faith at all times, and just taking people on their word without looking into things. 😒 Seriously, point just one instance of me insulting anyone outside of the enwiki and I will stop appealing this global lock for the next 6 months, just one insult or “attack”. --2405:4800:148C:9487:7814:A095:FEE8:DEA3 03:13, 15 August 2017 (UTC)Reply
