Unsolved Mysteries has helped police land hundreds of new leads in the hunt for death row fugitive Lester Eubanks.
Eubanks escaped death row in Ohio in 1973, eight years after the rape and murder of 14-year-old Mary Ellen Deener.
But now, with the US Marshals launching a new campaign and a $25,000 (£19,300) reward on the back of the episode launching on Netflix, hundreds of new leads have been received.
This could mean that Eubanks could finally be tracked down after 47 years evading police.
Terry Dunn Meurer, series creator, told TMZ that the team have been forwarding all credible leads over to the law enforcement agencies.
Myrtle Carter, Mary Ellen’s sister, added that she hoped tracking him down will deliver some closure for the family.
At the time of his disappearance, Eubanks was described by authorities as having black hair, brown eyes, weighing 175 pounds and standing at 5ft 11in.
He made a run for it after he was allowed on day release unaccompanied by a guard and seized the opportunity to run – infuriating viewers given his death row sentance.
It is believed that he is still alive by authorities, and has been hidden by friends and relatives to evade capture.
There have been plenty of theories surrounding Eubanks’ whereabouts, with some believing he must be dead while others believe he’s now living as an artist after taking up painting on death row.
Anyone in the United States with information on Eubanks is urged to call the U.S. Marshal Service tipline at 866-4-WANTED.
Unsolved Mysteries is available on Netflix now.
