UPDATE: It’s true, all of it! After months and years of waiting, Rockstar will drop the first ever GTA 6 trailer sometime in December.

Given the source, it always seemed likely that rumours of a GTA 6 announcement this week, and a trailer reveal next month, would be true and now Rockstar Games has confirmed exactly that.

The following announcement was just sent out to press and while it doesn’t state an exact date it makes it very clear that the ‘first trailer’ for GTA 6 will be released in ‘early’ December.

There’s no guarantee it’ll be particularly long but Rockstar trailers are usually very cinematic and after all this time they’ll no doubt want to make an impression.

Next month marks the 25th anniversary of Rockstar Games.

Thanks to the incredible support of our players worldwide, we have had the opportunity to create games we are truly passionate about – without you, none of this would be possible, and we are so grateful to all of you for sharing this journey with us.

In 1998, Rockstar Games was founded on the idea that video games could come to be as essential to culture as any other form of entertainment, and we hope that we have created games you love in our efforts to be part of that evolution.

We are very excited to let you know that in early December, we will release the first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto. We look forward to many more years of sharing these experiences with all of you.

Original story:

After so much waiting, Rockstar is allegedly ready to drop a GTA 6 trailer next month for the studio’s 25th anniversary.

For the whole of this year, eager Grand Theft Auto fans have interpreted every comment and GTA Online update Rockstar Games has made as a tease for an imminent reveal trailer for GTA 6.

One fan’s so desperate for GTA 6 news he keeps crashing live shows, including Gamescom 2023’s opening ceremony back in August.

Hopefully, he and every other irate fan will soon be placated as it’s claimed that Rockstar will be making a formal announcement as early as this week, with a proper trailer to follow next month.

There have been rumours of a GTA 6 reveal trailer for years now, typically from less reliable sources, but this latest claim comes courtesy of Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier.

As a reminder, Schreier previously reported that GTA 6 would feature two playable protagonists – one of which will be a Latina woman – which was later corroborated by last year’s hacking incident.

He’s also generally regarded as one of the most reliable sources in the games industry and Bloomberg is clearly not 4chan or some other dubious forum.

Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two will be reporting on its quarterly earnings later today, so the GTA 6 announcement could potentially coincide with that, if not made shortly afterwards.

While Schreier doesn’t know the exact date for the trailer, he was told by people familiar with Rockstar’s plans that the reveal trailer will coincide with the studio’s 25th anniversary in December.

It’s easy to assume that the trailer is being saved for The Game Awards 2023, which takes place on December 7. However, Rockstar loves to do its own thing, so it’s just as likely, if not more so, that the trailer will drop on YouTube before or after The Game Awards.

It’s worth noting that even if this information is correct at the moment, Rockstar and/or Take-Two could change their plans and push the announcement and trailer back at the last moment.

Still, it’d make sense for some kind of GTA 6 update to be shared before the year wraps up. Although there’s no firm launch date, Take-Two has implied in the past that it’s aiming to have the game out in 2024 or early 2025.
