Lisa Kudrow has set the record straight following Jennifer Aniston’s remarks about the Friends audience being ‘irritating’.

Jennifer aka Rachel Green, previously claimed that Lisa ‘hated’ having a live studio audience during filming for the beloved comedy, as they would laugh at the cast’s jokes.

However, Lisa, 60 – who played Phoebe Buffay – has now cleared up what she meant.

Of course, Friends fans will know that the sitcom – also starring David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, and the late Matthew Perry – was filmed in front of a real crowd most of the laughter or other sounds heard are 100% real.

Fake sounds were only used during intimate scenes or scenes or episodes with plot twists, cliffhangers, or season finales.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Lisa has clarified that she actually has no qualms with the audience. What she wasn’t so keen on was when they laughed too much.

‘No, that’s not exactly… no, no. It irritated me if they would laugh for too long,’ she said, responding to Jennifer’s recalling of events.

‘God bless them. They were so excited to be there that sometimes the laughter would just be longer than if they would have laughed at anything else.

‘I was like, “Alright, well, take it easy. It’s not that funny. And there’s more to say!”‘

Jennifer, 55, first made the comments opposite Quinta Brunson for Variety’s Actors on Actors where she regaled memories from her time on the show.

‘Lisa Kudrow, by the way, hated when the audience laughed,’ she exclaimed at one point.

‘She’d be like, “I’m not done! It’s not that funny!”‘

Lisa and Jennifer have remained close pals since Friends wrapped in 2004.

Last year, when Lisa celebrated her milestone 60th birthday, Jennifer took a trip down friendship memory lane with a sweet social media tribute.

‘Please join me in celebrating one of my favorite people on the planet. LISA KUDROW!!’, she wrote on Instagram in July.

‘She’s been my friend and my family for nearly 30 incredible years. I cherish you….I love you, my sweet Floosh.

‘One of the most talented comedians/actors I’ve had the great honor to work with for all these glorious years and more to come.’

The cast of Friends was left irrevocably heartbroken late last year when Perry died at the age of 54.

Perry, aka the loveable Chandler Bing, was found dead in October in the hot tub at his Los Angeles home.

An autopsy later revealed he was killed by ‘acute effects of ketamine’.

Pouring their hearts out and expressing their love for their co-star, the surviving cast members originally issued a statement, honoring Perry by saying they were ‘all so utterly devastated’ by the loss as they were ‘more than just cast mates, [they were] a family’.

His presence has continuously been felt in their work since, with Jennifer most notably tearing up when watching clips of Perry on camera.

In the emotional Variety video, which soon went viral, a producer was heart promoting for questions about what it’s like to watch Friends 30 years after it premiered.

‘Oh God, don’t make me cry,’ Jennifer said as she started to break down.

‘It’s a happy tear!’, she then assured.

In her own heartfelt tribute, Lisa has also hailed Perry as ‘completely brilliant’, thanking him for ‘the best 10 years a person gets to have’ during their time on set.

Touching on Perry’s struggle with addiction, she noted: ‘Thank you for showing up at work when you weren’t well and then, being completely brilliant. Thank you for the best 10 years a person gets to have. Thank you for trusting me.’

She concluded in the post: ‘Thank you for all I learned about GRACE and LOVE through knowing you. Thank you for the time I got to have with you, Matthew.’

The actress has also said she now thinks of Perry when she watches old clips, making it about his memory instead of allowing herself to feel embarrassed.
