It’s finally time for Deadpool to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe and he’s bringing Wolverine along for the blood-soaked timeline-hopping ride.

Lucky fans at the Deadpool & Wolverine UK Sneak Peek Fan Event were given a glimpse into the highly anticipated third movie.

Both Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman will star in the film, which sees the beloved characters team up for the first time in Deadpool and Wolverine.

It’s been 24 years since the X-Men star debuted his adamantium claws and fans were apprehensive to see him return to the role after saying Logan (2017) was his last outing.

However, all concern was wiped away at the Eventim Apollo as Deadpool walked all over Logan’s grave and launched into a 35-minute sneak peek of the film.

So for the fans who weren’t there — what actually when down when Deadpool and Wolverine finally came together?

What was shown at the Deadpool and Wolverine event?

Even before the screening kicked off, Martin Kemp was brought in to DJ for the eager crowd as well as a battle of the bands between ‘Clawsome’ and ‘The Bloody Katanas’.

The cast and crew took to the stage, including Ryan and Hugh as well as Peggy the dog aka Dogpool also making a brief cameo at the event.

Finally, the sneak peek began, delivering a short but tantalisingly sweet 35-minute clip of Deadpool and Wolverine before a preview of more to come.

In true Deadpool style, the opening credits feature Ryan’s familiar voiceover as he battles his current enemy in a bloody showdown with plenty of crude gags and a killer soundtrack.

This unravelled into a film packed with plenty of fourth-wall-breaking references and one incredible cameo which drove the audience wild.

Fans quickly clocked the presence of the Time Variance Authority (TVA) in the trailer and Deadpool wastes no time getting wrapped up in variant hijinx.

Without giving away any spoilers, there was a murmur of optimism as fans left the venue — could Deadpool actually save the MCU?

Who do we know is in the cast?

Of course, the main focus has been on Hugh returning to his role as Wolverine despite saying he was retiring after Logan.

During the event, he joked he saw Deadpool and immediately regretted the decision but it was years later in 2022 that his body was ‘screaming’ to take part.

Ryan returns as Wade Wilson, although there will be variants which include Dogpool played by Britain’s ugliest dog Peggy.

In a huge addition to the cast, The Crown’s Emma Corrin is Cassandra Nova — the mind-bending twin of X-Men icon Charles Xavier.

Matthew Macfadyen stars as Paradox while Rob Delaney returns as fan favourite Peter, a member of the X-Force team from Deadpool 2.

Also returning are Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Karan Soni as Dopinder,

As for the other mutants, most are back for more action including Stefan Kapičić as Colossus, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and Shioli Kutsuna as Yukio.

Another exciting reveal was Jennifer Garner reprising her role of Elektra, which she last played in the Daredevil movie and her own solo venture.

With Fox and Marvel properties finally coming together, any hero old or new is fair game so buckle in for some big-name cameos.

What is the age rating likely to be?

As with its predecessors, Deadpool and Wolverine has also been given R rating in the States — something fans were concerned about given the move to Disney.

In the UK that translates to a 15, with sex and nudity, violence and gore, swearing, and alcohol and drug use all listed in the guidance.

At the event, the producers discussed how important it was to preserve the integrity of Deadpool as the ‘Merc with a Mouth’.

Wade and Blind Al even flaunt this rating by listing various names for cocaine, which he says is the only thing Disney insisted was ‘off the table’.

This is not a sanitised Deadpool by any stretch of the imagination.

When is it coming out in the UK?

Fans don’t have long to wait now as Deadpool and Wolverine will be released in UK theatres on July 25.

The July air date has special significance as it marks 24 years since the first X-Men film was released on July 14, 2000.

Deadpool and Wolverine will run in cinemas first before heading over to a streamer at a yet-unknown date.

It’s likely Disney Plus will host the on-demand premiere but nothing has been confirmed yet.
