From Popeyes to Wendy’s, a number of popular US fast food chains have taken the UK by storm in recent years.

Among them is Taco Bell, a Mexican-inspired quick service brand which has a cult following in the US for its tacos, burritos and quesadillas.

The chain first came to the UK 1986, but shut down in the 90s before launching once more in the 2010s. The first re-launched London restaurant opened in 2018 and there are now more than 130 branches across the country.

Fans on social media have hailed it as ‘better than McDonald’s’, with some proclaiming it the ‘perfect drunk food’, and saying it’s ‘phenomenal’.

So it’s likely many will be excited to hear that it’s launched several brand new items on its menu in the UK, including a limited-edition burrito, as well as a bargain £3.99 lunch deal.

Customers can now order a Beefy Fries Burrito, which is made with seasoned beef, seasoned fries, warm nacho cheese sauce and creamy chipotle sauce, all wrapped up in a classic grilled flour tortilla.

Prices start from just £1.99 for the burrito on its own, which makes for a very budget-friendly meal choice.

Also new on the menu is the Cravings Lunch Deal, which features the new burrito offering. For £3.99 shoppers can pick up the Beefy Fries Burrito, regular fries, and a regular soft drink.

The deal is available from 11am to 3pm, Monday to Friday. And, if you’re a Taco Bell loyalty member, it’s even cheaper, at just £3.49 when ordering on the app.

Or, if you’re really peckish, you can upgrade to the Deluxe Box at £9.99, which buys you the Beefy Fries Burrito, a crunchy taco, regular fries or nachos, nacho cheese sauce, churros & caramel dip, and a regular soft drink.

And, in excellent news for cheese lovers, Taco Bell have also added an XL offering of its Nacho Cheese Sauce to the menu.

The new pot is a whopping three times the size of a normal serving, so you’ll have plenty of cheesy goodness to dip your fries, nachos and burritos into.

As well as new items, the fast food chain has launched a number of digital deals for fans who have the app. These include grabbing a free Cheesy Topped Fries with a £1 spend (10th to 22nd September), and a free Cheese Quesadilla with every £1 spend (8th to 20th October).

There’s also a range of Delivery Offers. Those who order via Just Eat can the exclusive Just Eat Lunch Bundle for Two.

US fast food chains have been attempting to make their mark on the UK food market in recent months.

Dave’s Hot Chicken, which specialises in Nashville style hot chicken, has just signed an agreement with Azzurri Group to open 60 sites across the country.

Azzurri currently operates several big name brands in the UK, including Zizzi, ASK Italian, Coco di Mama, and Boojum.

The full list of Dave’s locations haven’t been confirmed yet, but the first branch is set to open in London in early 2025.

Dave’s Hot Chicken started in East Hollywood back in 2017, when four friends who loved chicken tenders scraped together enough money ($900) to buy a fryer and launch a pop-up business in a car park.

They began serving Nashville-style hot chicken and soon people were flocking to get a taste, with Drake, Samuel L. Jackson, and Usher all being counted amongst the brand’s biggest fans, and investing in the company.

Interestingly, there are just two chicken items on the menu — tenders and sliders (sandwiches) — as well as a range of sides including fries, cheese fries, mac & cheese, and kale slaw. You can also order combinations of these to make for a bigger meal.

Customers can personalise their order by selecting a spice level for the dish, from no heat at all, through to the ‘Reaper’ which is so hot you have to sign a waiver before you’re allowed to eat it.
