Director of Saltburn, Emerald Fennell, has delighted fans by announcing her next project is set to be an adaptation of Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë.

Emerald Fennell delighted fans with her films Saltburn and Promising Young Woman, both excellent and horrifying films that included upbeat pop hits and murder.

Saltburn caused huge waves as fans were left with their jaws on the floor by the various plot twists and the extreme scenes featuring Barry Keoghan and Jacob Elordi.

Promising to kick things up a notch, the star has now announced that she will be adapting an iconic gothic horror – and fans can barely cope.

The star revealed artwork on social media of a skeleton crest with the title Wuthering Heights in the dead centre.

The photo read: ‘Be with me always, take any form, drive me mad…A film by Emerald Fennell.’

Fans took to X to express their extreme joy that this iconic book was being reimagined by the director.

‘I am losing my mind! My favourite story being adapted by one of my favourite directors!?’ said Maggieofthetown.

EL James, the author of the 50 Shades of Grey franchise commented: ‘I cannot wait!’

‘YESSSSSS!!!!!!!! This is going to be spectacular,’ said Kellykeegs.

‘You’re going to slay this adaptation right into eternity,’ added Mothm0on.

Hoping to recreate the resurgence of popularity in Murder on the Dancefloor, fans were also quick to suggest how the director might want to incorporate the Kate Bush song Wuthering Heights into this soundtrack.

‘This is so major. One of my favorite directors with such fantastic source material. You better have Kate Bush on the soundtrack. That is my only request. Otherwise, I cannot wait to see you cook,’ Justannaagain commented.

‘If it includes THE SONG I’m in,’ MarkBowsherFilm added.

Already fans are suggesting that the the cast should include the likes of Paul Mescal, Daisy Edgar-Jones and other Hollywood heartthrobs of the moment.

Some have even suggested she recycle her Saltburn cast and include the likes of Ewan Mitchell and Jacob Elordi in the running to become the possible Heathcliff.
