A fan has convinced themselves that Elden Ring is hiding half its content and is taking Bandai Namco to court over the difficulty.

Gamers trying to sue publishers and developers isn’t all that uncommon, as seen earlier this year when a The Crew fan wanted to recruit others to their cause, as they tried to sue Ubisoft after it shut down the racing title’s servers.

Additionally, while Microsoft were in the process of acquiring Activision Blizzard last year, a group of gamers filed a lawsuit to stop the merger, saying it would create a monopoly that should be prevented, but their motion was dismissed twice.

An Elden Ring fan is now adding their complaint to the list of gamer lawsuits, as they believe ‘only half’ of the content in FromSoftware games have been discovered, because they’re too difficult to play.

The accuser announced their lawsuit on 4chan, where they argued:

‘September 25, 2024, is when Bandai Namco games enters court for a hearing in my Elden Ring lawsuit, that claims we have only played HALF of FROMSOFTWARE’s games and a whole new game is hidden inside, and that it’s too hard to access for even its most dedicated fans.’

Replying to one of the comments in the thread, they said: ‘You paid for content that you can’t access, without even knowing about it.’

The suit is real and can be seen registered in small claims court in Massachusetts in the US, on September 25, via DocketAlarm. Although the Massachusetts Court Cases website is currently down, so it’s impossible to verify any additional information about the case.

Back on 4chan, the disgruntled fan explains his lawsuits by saying:

‘In less than two months, you will be forced to realise game devs cater to crazy people because they have courage that you don’t, to explore the unknown world.

‘You will be forced to realise hackers have been lying to you telling you content is cut, when its actually just undiscovered.’

Once other fans started to question their logic, the arguments became more and more incoherent, with talk of weird developer conspiracies dating back decades.

You’d assume they were just trolling if it wasn’t for the fact that they, or at least someone, has made a small claims complaint against Bandai Namco.

Unsurprisingly neither FromSoftware or Bandai Namco have responded to the suit publicly.

Although it’s true that FromSoftware games like Elden Ring, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and the Dark Souls series are hard to beat, it’s difficult to see how this suit won’t be dismissed when it gets its day in court.

Elden Ring is widely considered the easiest of From’s Soulslikes games and the game’s enormous success, and that of its DLC, suggests that most people have got on just fine with it.

If the complaints are genuine it seems as if the gamer in question has got confused over dataminers discovering unused or unfinished content in the game, which is present in almost all games.
