Emily Bader – star of Prime’s raunchy new period drama My Lady Jane – will feature in Netflix’s upcoming rom-com and fans have been sent into a frenzy.
The 27-year-old actor will star in Netflix’s long-awaited adaptation of Emily Henry’s bestselling sensation People We Meet On Vacation opposite Hunger Games star Tom Blyth.
The story follows best friends Poppy Wright (Emily), an aspiring writer with a wild child sprit, and Alex Nilsen (Tom), someone who enjoys home comforts.
The duo annually holiday together but after a rift in their friendship, Poppy tries to revive their relationship with one last trip that changes everything.
The viral BookTok sensation has been picked up by Netflix who announced the highly-anticipated casting with a social media video of Emily finding out she had scored the coveted gig from director Brett Haley.
In the clip, Emily got emotional and said it was a ‘dream come true’ after being told the exciting news. Tom then hopped on the call to congratulate her. Finally, author Emily joined to say she was so ‘excited’.
‘I’ve been kind of an anxious wreck to about who would play these characters and I just truly could not feel any more confident that my readers and then so many more people who don’t even know about the book are going to completely, completely fall in love with Poppy and Alex with you guys playing them,’ Emily added.
And she is definitely onto something as fans expressed their sheer excitement at the news.
‘Emily is such a talent (go watch my lady jane it’s bonkers and brilliant) so this might actually give what we need it to. let the feet kicking commence,’ @artan_aryan wrote.
‘I’m literally about to throw up oh my god,’ @allmychampagne added.
‘Oh they ate this casting UP,’ @katelynnmensah echoed.
Emily recently wowed fans in her first major role as Lady Jane in the steamy Prime period drama. In particular, fans were put in a ‘chokehold’ following a sex scene in episode five of the series between Lady Jane and her beloved Guildford (Edward Bluemel).
Meanwhile, Tom had his moment in the sun at the end of last year when he starred as Coriolanus Snow in the Hunger Games prequel opposite Rachel Zegler.
There is currently no release date for People We Meet on Vacation.
