Pop Idol star Andy-Scott Lee said he ‘never thought this day would come’ as he shared photos of his newborn son with his girlfriend Amy.
The 44-year-old Welsh singer, and brother to former Steps star Lisa Scott-Lee, took to Instagram on Saturday to announce the joyous news with a set of photos of his new baby, named Rome Alexander Scott-Lee, alongside him and his partner in the hospital.
In the caption he revealed Rome was born on July 25 and added that his weight was six pounds five ounces.
The 3SL frontman continued: ‘Mother and Son are doing amazingly! Honestly, I never thought this day would come!
‘I can’t even put into words how it feels to become a Dad. I promise you Son, I will ALWAYS look after you and do my best to raise you properly!’
After thanking his friends and family for their love and support he turned his gratitude to his ‘beautiful girlfriend Amy for making all [his] dreams come true’.
‘You are incredible! I love You and Rome very much and can’t wait to start making wonderful memories together as a family. To those reading this who still hope to have kids one day, don’t give up! Your time will come!’ the message concluded.
The carousel of pictures and videos includes a clip of Andy putting Rome into the car for the first time and him and his son heading on a sunny walk along the river.
Loved ones and fans alike flocked to the comments to congratulate the growing family, including Andy’s sister Lisa, 48.
‘We are over the moon for you Andy and Amy and I can’t wait to meet my gorgeous baby Nephew Rome very soon!!! I’m so proud of you bro,’ she wrote in the comments.
Meanwhile, his brother and former bandmate, Ant, added: ‘Absolutely over the moon and very proud of you [Andy]… thanks for giving Rome my middle name Alexander wow.’
‘Darlings Andy and Amy, huge congratulations and thanks for this most wonderful gift – we are all so blessed… Rome will be much loved by so many,’ Grandma @janjits echoed.
Andy rose to fame alongside the rest of his siblings as a singer in the late 90s and 00s. Welsh pop group 3SL, made up of brothers Andy, Anthony ‘Ant’ and Steve, achieved two top 20 hits in 2002, Touch Me Tease Me and Take It Easy.
In 2003, Andy appeared on Pop Idol where he eventually finished seventh and in 2005 he took part in the qualifying rounds to represent the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest.
He famously married Liberty X singer Michelle Heaton in 2006 but the pair separated in 2008. He later married Big Brother star Lydia Louise in 2013 but they also later divorced.
