BTS member Suga has been fined and his licence revoked after falling off an electric scooter while drunk.

According to the Seoul Yongsan Police Station, the 31-year-old singer, real name Min Yoon-gi, faced charges for violating Road Traffic Act after the incident took place on a street in Hannam-dong in Seoul.

A subsequent breathalyser test confirmed his blood alcohol levels were high enough to receive a fine and revocation.

Suga’s agency, Big Hit Music issued an apology after confirming that he returned home on an electric scooter ‘while wearing a helmet after drinking’.

The statement continued: ‘After traveling about 500 meters, he fell while parking the scooter, and a breathalyser test conducted by nearby police resulted in a fine and the revocation of his license.

The agency then added they ‘apologised deeply for the disappointment caused by our artist’s inappropriate behavior’ and that Suga would accept ‘any disciplinary action’ at his workplace, as a social service agent, for causing ‘public concern’.

On the South Korean entertainment app Weverse, Suga added: ‘I failed to recognise the danger and illegality of using an electric scooter while intoxicated and violated the Road Traffic Act.

‘Although no one was harmed and no property was damaged, I take full responsibility for my actions and sincerely apologise to everyone.’

Suga’s workplace, Military Manpower Administration, confirmed no further action would be taken by them as the incident occurred outside work hours.
